Project Summary
DUCHET
Developing an Understanding of our Cultural Heritage Using Emerging Technologies.
This is an innovative project based around the exchange of good practice between participating schools and developing a sense of each others cultural heritage. The project involves three schools. Summerhill College in Ireland, Casa Salesiana Sagrado Corazon De Jesus La Almunia in Spain and Istituto Comprensivo G Parise in Italy. Each school has a proven track record of expertise in a particular area. The Irish school is one of the leading practitioners of relational training (eg the online platform Raise Your IQ developed by the National University Maynooth). Our Spanish school, has a strong understanding of the use of radio podcasts by schools and our Italian school has achieved national and international accreditation in robotics and use of drone technologies.
Each school oversaw an element of the project that saw them share their skills with the other two schools. Our Spanish school ran a radio podcast project that saw each school develop a series of podcasts that were shared between the schools and posted on the net . Our Italian school oversaw a project whereby drones were used to film each locality and these two were uploaded to the web. Our Irish school saw the introduction of relational training into the other two schools.
We took as our theme ‘Understanding the Cultural Heritage of Our Area’. each school is situated in areas of particular cultural interest and we wished to share this through our activities.
Students who were involved in the projects had the opportunity to visit the other schools to meet the students that they had been collaborating with and discover more about their respective countries.
