Project Summary

Le Bastion middle school has all the resources needed in order to develop a European project: strong partnerships as well as experienced teachers who have already been abroad during the numerous exchanges previously organized and who are willing to unite around a European project.
At the instigation of the school board, a steering group leads the project and chooses a cross-disciplinary theme. A first draft is proposed to the European partners who agree to join the European project coordinated by Le Bastion middle school. Within two years, four European partners (French, Estonian, Spanish and Czech) want to have 400 teenagers (11-15 years-old) work on the contemporary theme of ‘critical thinking’.
This project is organized around 2 main areas : European diversity and media education respectively including four and three actions. Each action is collectively developed by a team of multidisciplinary teachers and that of their European partners. The teams lead their action(s) independently but each action is based on exchanges (text, audio or video) with the partners in order to create something in common. Thanks to the allocation of a shared time slot for a video-conference for all the partners, each team will be able to ensure a regular monitoring of its action.
The aim of the European project is to develop the skills of young Europeans by making them work together around a theme that is familiar to all European states. The expected outcomes of this project are the final productions of the students that will reveal the amount of work done, the skills that have been developed and the requested knowledge in order to do so.
In the long run, the project must allow all partners to improve their ways of working abroad as well as a change of coordination. Moreover, it should allow to enhance the school’s image and to federate the teams.
