Project Summary

The two partner schools have decided to apply together for this project because they both share the need to recover the power of written words, in a society that is too focused on images: young students usually communicate through photos, videos or other images accompanied by a few simple words. Experiencing autobiographical writing, especially a personal diary, students can reach a better and deeper knowledge of themselves, of their inner feelings and thoughts, that allows them to improve their self-esteem and self-confidence, increasing their growth as individual and as euro-citizens too.
The chosen theme has become even more current in this time of Co-vid emergency: in their distance learning classrooms, students have already been asked by their teachers to write some pages of diary, about their feelings and expectations in this strange period, in order to share them with the partner students.

The main objective of the project is to create, to experience and to improve effective and addictive methodologies, in order to foster each student a learning process that fits its own requests and to increase their key competences.

The participants involved in the project are:
– all the students of the two partners Secondary Schools (including the Portuguese special needs students); thirteen students for each school will take part in the mobilities (including two Portuguese special needs students);
– Italian, Portuguese, English and Art teachers will be more directly involved in the project, but all the teachers will take active part in it, especially for the sharing of “best practices”, with school meetings, webinars, chat, the eTwinning platform and the school official websites; four Italian teachers and six Portuguese teachers (two more teachers in order to take care of the special needs students) will take part in the mobilities.
Anyway, through the dissemination of the project actions and results, all the community will be involved in it.

The main activities are workshops about autobiographical writing ( using circle time, life skills, debate…) and, afterwards, art workshops (using different techniques): the pages of the diary are changed into artworks, becoming visible and appreciated by a larger number of people. Two final exhibitions will take place, one in Italy and one in Portugal: all the students artworks will be showed.
Methodologies like Cooperative Learning and Peer Education will also be used, in order to create an environment of and fair exchange and sharing.

The eTwinning platform will be used as a place to communicate and to share information, in every step of the project: The carried out methodologies and their results will be uploaded on a database available for all the staff and students of the involved school, and on the school website too, to foster a wider sharing and dissemination; then, they will become part of the curriculum of each school, in order to become “good practices” in everyday school life of teachers and pupils, helping them to grow up and to build everlasting mind structures, useful in different situations.
In a long term vision, students increase their awareness of European citizenship, and they become open minded and skilled in entrepeunership and in effective communication.
