Project Summary
The highlight of our project idea is the belief that every problem around us could be solved thanks to a focused and joint work.So every legal method should be used in trying to make people from different cultures get closer to each other. Our main topic is our cultural heritage. Following this line we will create a fellowship to have enough strength to solve the problem of ethnical, religious misunderstanding, to cope with the existing problem of prejudices and discrimination. It is important to learn how to respect each other as human beings.Different school subjects will help us in this adventure. We will deal with History, with all the common events throughout centuries. We will use Geography to trace out all the sights of cultural interest in connection with the two countries and students will create various types of maps about them. During the lessons of Social Studies we will ask and answer some very basic questions. What do they know about religions? Where does discrimination come from? Do our students have knowledge about these main topics? Are they prepared well to fight against stereotypes?Arts will also play an important role in our project activities, both creating artistic works and analyzing existing masterpieces will help to reach our goals. Students will also be able to find connections in literature, too. Discovering linguistic similarities, common vocabulary roots can also add a lot to the results of our project. Lifelike situations can make the project more interesting so we are planning to give a task to our students to find Turkish people living and working in Hungary, and Hungarian ones living in Turkey. Getting information about associations connecting the two countries and working on the friendship between the two countries can also be useful in our project work. Different traditions are very typical of a nation so we don’t want to neglect this field either. As we want to include sciences, too, our goal is to make students prepare presentations about outstanding scientists of the two countries. The two schools will share the work, the basic topics, tasks, they will be totally equal partners. Each partner school will have their own topics.Hungary, as a coordinator, will be responsible for the topics of arts, languages, literature, history, geography, and the Turkish school will have the task to have the leading role in the fields of religions, traditions, science, people, organizations. So both teams will give students and teachers the chance to broaden their knowledge about different cultural contexts.Today young people live their lives at a very quick pace getting information from a lot of sources. On the other hand, youngsters’ knowledge is frequently based on stereotypes. They don’t know how their peers from abroad live. Foreigners and minorities are sometimes seen as potential economic and
social dangers.Racism is growing in our countries, our students are of the age when they can be attacked by extreme ideas and we have to show them the right way of thinking. The project will give the chance for the students to learn about our cultural heritage and values like dignity, fairness, equality and independence. Our activities, mobility feedbacks, final project products will show why cultural aspects are important in situations that could affect everybody, their family or friends. Before the mobilities, students and their parents, teachers will be prepared for these trips and by the time they arrive in the host country they will have had a lot of information about its culture, religion and people. Students are also going to be prepared for the activities they have to do during the meetings. At the end of the project students will hopefully understand that the topics of this project are relevant to all of us, not just those who face repression or mistreatment because they can protect all of us in many areas of our day-to-day life. Our main project goal is to create knowledge which wouldn’t be forgotten after these two project years. Youngsters will know that all human beings were born to be free.Everyone has the right to have their own culture, thoughts, make their own decisions and share their ideas with their fellow students and as human beings they should be treated in the same, respectful way, and nobody can take these rights and freedom away from them.Working on the project the staff will improve the quality of teaching and learning as they will find new, interesting topics to deal with and find new methods to use during their lessons and all all of them can be included in a new, more advanced curriculum of our schools.
