Project Summary
Digitization is the most recent term when it comes to describing social change. We encounter the “digital revolution” in all areas of our world and last, but not least in education. At the political level, strategies are being developed: The European Commission identifies “the need for every citizen to have at least basic digital skills in order to live, work, learn and participate in modern society” (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/policies/digital-skills).
Digital media are an essential part of adult education and learning. However, adult education still has to address the charge of not responding adequately to the existing digital skills challenges. This inspired the DICE project:
We believe that all learners at any age can manifest and practice digital knowledge if they are taught openly, participatively and appreciatively. This type of teaching requires highly motivated, well-educated teachers and excellent training materials. There are many reasons to promote “learning from colleagues”, experience becomes more and more when shared. Professional learning communities consist of specialists who constantly update and expand their expertise. High quality educational approaches and ICT tools are used to support the development and evaluation of digital skills. Accordingly, the main challenge of the project is to discover, compare and learn from each other innovative pedagogical approaches to improve the quality in each of our facilities. This quality improvement serves our teachers, our students and should increase the demand for our services..
Project objectives
Exchange best practice on digital educational experiences, teaching skills and digital skills of teachers, as well as new didactic and methodological approaches to support teachers / trainers and increase the motivation and commitment of staff (and learners!) for lifelong learning, especially regarding new technologies. The exchange takes place within the framework of international trainings, the results (at least 3 examples per partner) are presented in a compendium at the end of the project. The collocated compendium serves adult education staff to prepare and deliver high quality courses and prepares learners to participate in modern society and for the needs of the digital labour market.
The second result will be a virtual library that is easily accessible and will delight a wide audience for the project. Material on new teaching techniques, on digital skills, on lifelong digital learning, on innovative approaches in different countries within and outside our partnership is collected by the partners and stored here in the virtual library.
During the two training events each partner will produce a video about good practice examples. These videos also will be part of the library.
The entire project progress is critically monitored by the internal evaluator.
The DICE consortium consists of large and small educational institutions from Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern Europe located in large and small towns and rural areas: coordinator AT, partners from IT, CZ, ES, RO and DK.
The Danish partner will bring it’s extraordinary expertise, coming from one of the Top 4 countries all over the world, regarding digital competitiveness. This diversity of educational and socio-cultural environments will create a synergy leading to efficient exchange of good practice and new experiences in the two short term staff trainings.
Well-coordinated working arrangements, clear distribution of tasks and transparent project and budget management create the framework for the successful completion of the project, all partners are committed and responsible, good results can be secured.
The planned project activities are regular communication to coordinate the tasks, 2 TPM for quality management, 2 LTTA for staff training and comparison of good practice examples, ongoing collection of material for the compendium and the virtual library, 6 videos will be produced, 4 newsletters will generated, accompanying evaluation and dissemination will be done. Transparent tasks and verification of compliance with the set milestones ensure that the project’s goals are achieved.
DICE projects impact will be acquisition of digital skills. Courses that address both the needs of learners and teachers are particularly successful.
Positive learning attitude, pleasant learning environment, good teaching material and teachers well prepared in both, terms of content as well as pedagogically-didactically, are a guarantee of success.
The results of the project also help to meet the demands of the international labour market and will support the challenges of the modern knowledge-based society.
Sustainability of results is given by uploading and presenting them after the project’s lifetime on the partner’s websites, which will continue to be fully accessible. Gathered information and experience will be accessible to all interested professionals and the public.
