DIVERSI-DATE creates a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment
in which
pupils can meet and exchange
about
World views and Europeans values
by means of
Creative and digital learning methods and with the support of university college students
with the aim
To reinforce young people and increase their resilience; reinforce creativity in education and reinforce the resilience of the creative sector in a challenging and changing societal context

CONTEXT
We are living in rapidly changing society with numerous social challenges such as polarization, climate change and recently the Covid-crisis. Players in the field of education, youth work and creative sector are struggling to cope with these challenges in a sustainable way. In addition, they acknowledged the need of young people to be reinforced regarding their resilience, civic competences, creative coping and awareness of European values in this challenging social context. On the other hand, we noticed among all these players also a lot of energy, creativity and willingness to cooperate to handle these challenges.

OBJECTIVES
Diversi-Date creates an international platform in which the creative and artistic sector, secondary schools and universities of applied sciences work together to develop creative and innovative methods adapted to a challenging and digitizing social context. The target groups and the main objectives are:
– Pupils/young people: learning to apply creative and digital methods in coping with social risks and reinforce their resilience, civic competences and awareness of European values.
– Students (Higher education): reinforce civic competences and competences regarding cultural sensitive and inclusive group work by applying creative methods.
-Teachers, lecturers and youth workers: reinforce civic competences and competences regarding cultural sensitive and inclusive professional practice by applying creative methods.
– Creative partners: Innovate, adapt, apply and share methods in interaction with schools, institutes of higher educations and other creative partners nationally and internationally. These methods will strengthen their position in a challenging and digitizing social context.

PARTICIPANTS
This partnership exists of 3 Universities of Applied Sciences (Odisee (B), Saxion (NL) and Turku Universities of Applied Sciences (FI)); 5 creative organisarions (Pimento (B), Piazza Dell’Arte (B), De Bagagedrager (NL), Live your Story (NL) and TMI Johanna Novàk (FI)) and; one secondary school (TA Jette (B)).
External participants are pupils and teachers of secondary schools, lectures and students of Universities of Applied Sciences and creative organizations.
ACTIVITIES
We will conduct and implement 3 main types of activities.
First we will develop, test and implement creative workshop methods for pupils and young people. Second, we will develop, test and implement creative workshop methods for teachers, educators and youth workers. Third, we will develop, test and implement a training course for bachelor students.

In general these activities have the following features in common:
– contextualized and experience-based
– informal learning in addition to formal learning
– inclusive environment with special attention for safety and respect
– exchange on world views and European values
– reinforce coping skills, civic competences and resilience with respect to social risks and societal challenges
– making use of the creative potential of the participants through integration of different creative and artistic methods such as improvisation, music, play, digital storytelling, acting, social media, …

METHODOLOGY
For the development of the workshop methods and training course the partners will work together intensively. Beside these partners, a significant number of stakeholders will be involved in a needs assessment and steering groups. In addition, each activity will be evaluated by the respective target groups during the testing phase.
In this way, we want to assure that our creative and innovative output is useful, applicable and supported by the target groups.

RESULTS & IMPACT
The workshop methods and training course will result in two intellectual outputs. One for educators and youth workers and one for the creative and artistic organizations. Together with the implementation and dissemination of our activities we expect that:
– Pupils and young people become more autonomous, empowered and resilient when facing new challenges; they will learn to express their opinion with respect for ‘the other’, in doing so make use of their talents and apply creative methods.
– Teachers/educators/youth workers and creative sector will be inspired and be able to apply the creative methods in their professional setting.

Diversi-Date will foster active networking between different stakeholders from different fields (trans)nationally, reinforce creativity in education and; contribute to the resilience of the creative and artistic sector
