Project Summary

Our project was born with the idea of improving and complementing the experience of each partner, diversifying methods and giving new approaches to how to tackle school strategies and methodologies that promote gender equality, tolerance, inclusion and inclusiveness and the responsible use of Technologies in students.

The need stems from the detection of unhealthy behaviors in our pupils such as aggressiveness, exclusion, cyber bullying, cyber-control, insults, offensive messages, defamatory rumors, jealousy…, the increasing power of technologies which encourage these behaviors and the need to propose a more inclusive education.

We have worked on this to a greater or lesser degree, but we need and aspire to go further and add a European value, contributing among all our experience, our strategies and methods, our work and commitment, our ideas and our knowledge to achieve objectives efficiently and effectively which would be impossible to achieve separately. These are our objectives:
-Raise awareness of the importance of coeducation and prevention of gender violence in adolescence, banishing discrimination and sexist behaviour.
-Promote education in values and tolerance and unity in diversity, respecting freedom and rights and attitudes such as cooperation, respect and dialogue.
-Defend and practice inclusiveness in school and in life, guaranteeing equal opportunities and compensating social, cultural, economic and personal inequalities, motivating disabled pupils.
-Use ICT responsibly, avoiding addiction and preventing illegal acts due to improper use.
-Provide schools with protocols.
-Detect, act and eradicate bullying.
-Expand collaboration between schools, giving them an international dimension. Enrich experiences through the exchange of ideas, reinforcing creativity and innovation.
-Know, live and commit to European cultural heritage appreciating its value and diversity.

Our project is composed by six countries which try to show the widest, richest and most varied spectrum of the European diversity in their way of life and culture: Estonia, Spain, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic and UK and it will last for two years.
All schools contribute to the Project by providing their previous experiences:
-All of us have dealt with tolerance in different ways, therefore we can learn from each other.
-Spain and Poland present experience in dealing with inclusiveness.
-Estonia in the use of ICT.
-Czech Rep and UK in dealing with bullying.
-Czech Rep and UK have been quite active members in eTwinning.
-Spain and Greece have worked on gender violence and equality issues.
All educational communities are involved in this interdisciplinary project that will be integrated into the Annual General Programming and the improvement plans of the schools.
Throughout the project various activities aimed to accomplish the objectives will be carried out. Advertising, creation of protocols, theatrical sketches, exhibitions, street activities, videos, courses, talks, workshops, celebrations, Equality and Tolerance Plans… will try to make students understand that their beliefs and customs are neither better or worse than those of others, but different; that we have to promote equal relationships preventing gender violence; that there is real inclusion in schools, eliminating barriers and that we must raise awareness and promote the appropriate and responsible use of new technologies among students.
In these activities an active and practical methodology based on different approaches will be outlined: communicative, focused on the students and being the protagonists, through tasks, cooperative and collaborative where the idea of the team is essential, based on projects and the international competence caused by contact with other people and cultures.

Likewise in the LTTAs they will add an added value to the project by showing the products, participating in social and cultural tasks and events with varied and enriching activities interacting as ambassadors of their country in a closer Europe.

The most important products are the Guide to Tolerance, the Equality Plan, the Tolerance Plan, the annual magazine, the action protocols, the website and the supra-school activities held in the LTTAs and where other agencies will take part.

Our impacts are posed at different levels:
-In our schools (the main one) with the changes that may occur due to the application of the activities proposed and the objectives.
-In the nearby schools by disseminating our project.
-In other institutions by organizing shared activities and sharing synergies (NGOs, Social Services and City Councils)
-In other forums such as eTwinning, sharing our achievements internationally.

Our project is sustainable and what we have learned, what is elaborated and what will be shared will be much more important once the project is finished, since we will be able to fully apply the activities, the results, the methods and methodology, the protocols…
