Project Summary
The future of our students and those in Europe is increasingly becoming associated with fear and insecurity, in a society marked by selfishness, misunderstanding and intolerance. Responsibility is passed on and the students/ children feel overwhelmed and left alone with their concerns about their future.
This makes it all the more important for students to develop an awareness that they are not alone with their concerns and that there are many people who feel similar. Our project “Dream a little dream” aims to show young people ways to get out of this lethargy. Every student has a voice and needs to learn to use it and use it wisely. Together we can make a big difference and be strong. We just have to reach out to people, exchange ideas, listen and understand each other views.
Our partner schools from France, Portugal and Spain will together with us work on a theatre play that shows the student how strong they can be together. With eight students and at least two teachers that are actively involved from each school, we will produce a theatre play. This will require creativity, discipline and personal responsibility and an interest in exchanging ideas.
The play will begin with each country independently depicting a scene in which a youngster is heavily influenced (also by the media). The student will listen or watch the news and start to ask questions about his future. The fear of the future is at the forefront. The respective students come together in their dreams and find support and solutions in the community that reduce their Insecurities. All fears are ejected from the Stage and the future prospects are put into focus and highlighted. The youngsters will presente, that the fear of unemployment, loneliness, illness or pollution can be melted. They have their own voice, their right to vote and their say. It’s them who can decide and regulate, how the world evolves.
Our working Language will be English and there will be five meetings between the partners involved. In the mean time, each school will prepare individually, but with constant interchange with each other (eTwinning), covering the individual work phases. At the beginning of the joint work is a localization of the ist-state in the sense of “What scares me?” and “What will burden me for the future?”. The first meeting of teachers at the coordination school in Rheinberg prepares this registration and plans the closer organizational course of the project, which has a term of two years. The first interim will be about the development of the introductory scenes, which should be prepared by each national group of students. The second meeting with all project participants will take place in Móra la Nova, Spain. There, the input sequences are listed, compared and set the impulses for further work. Parallel to the common exchange about eTwinning, social media and the direct encounter, the main part of the production, the joint meetings of young people of different origins in a dream, develops conceptually. This is flanked by encounters in Almada, Portugal and Bordeaux, France. There, the end part of the play is then developed and rehearsed.
Concluding with a grand performance which will be scheduled in front of an audience this will strengthen and motivate students in their social responsibility and democratic awareness. The entire project will be continuously documented by video and photo, so that all stages of the project are transparent. The evaluation of the project is based on interviews and research at the beginning of the project, and then compared to the experience gained at the end of the project, these will also be documented.
The project promises a stronger implementation of the European idea into school life, because the cross-border experiences of those involved in the school community are regularly shared. It should become clear to all those included and also to the spectators how important it is to get involved in order to help shape life itself. It is also intended that the participants continue to maintain contact and the teachers to exchange professionally. In school life, the project could generate ideas for elements of participation and social responsibility (eg in the student representation or peer group education). In the area of the public, the project shines, if it leads to the establishment or maintenance of cooperations (eg by supporting scenic games at neighboring elementary schools or by the inclusion of the extra-curricular learning place “theater”).
