Project Summary
Drone European Platform is born with the premise of fostering innovative, sustainable and technological methods within the agricultural sector. In rural areas of the partner countries, you see that school dropout percentage are higher and there is less opportunities that translate in a more difficult transition education – labour market. With this project, our objective besides motivating the student body and the school staff with innovative teaching methodologies, intends to capacitate them with a competences and a skill set that allows them to have a competitive advantage when transitioning into the labour market.
During the application form of the Project, different objectives were stipulated. We intended to reach several objectives throughout the life of the project and to create a strategy that would guarantee endurance of our deliverables through the medium and long term. The objectives we defined and accomplished were the following:
1. To include innovative technologies in the VET system of the different partners and respective partner countries.
2. To develop a European Drone Course.
3. To increase the competences and skills set of the school staff in the drone sector and give them tools and knowledge to allow them to share it with the students.
4. To prepare the student body with tools and skills that facilitates their access to a job.
5. To foster and promote cohesion in the agricultural sector between partner countries and the European community in general.
6. To increase the attractiveness level of a career in the rural and agricultural sector.
7. To establish a knowledge network and foment the exchange of ideas at the European level with the objective of helping and acquiring the necessary skills to use drones.
The Project created three main deliverables that allowed us to reach the desired objectives:
1- Drone European Platform: the consortium designed and created a platform that foments European cohesion on drone knowledge. For that, the platform, gives free access to resources and good practices and information over the use of the drones and their respective legislation in each partner country. It includes as well, a repository of open educational resources free to access by everyone.
2- Drone Course: during the lifetime of the project a course targeting the use and construction of drones was designed and implemented. The course is divided in two parts, a theoretical with 6 units and a practical with 4. Besides this, 10 video tutorials were created to explain the process of a construction of a drone and how to use one. This course, validated by experts on the matter, intends to train students, teachers and anyone that might be interested.
3- Manual for the use of drones in precision agriculture: the consortium designed a manual to be used not only by agricultural sector VET centres but also agricultural professionals on how to foment sustainable agriculture and innovation in the sector.
In the framework of the Drone Course, the consortium developed a free online course, not only for the participants and the stakeholders of the project, but also to anyone that might be interested in getting more knowledge on the construction and the usage of drones. This course is available in English, Spanish and Italian and can be used also to implement innovative educational methodologies such as Flipped Classroom. The consortium thought about a Learning by doing approach when designing this course.
The course and every product can be found in the project platform which you can access through: www.edudrone.eu. There you can find different multimedia resources that will potentiate your drone knowledge, and redirect you to content of interest, from influencers to another drone platforms. Also access to the Manual for the use of drones in precision agriculture available in English, Spanish and Italian.
Within the timeline of the project, the consortium trained more than 220 individuals prepared and with the know-how in building and using drones. The consortium involved Associated Partner to potentiate the impact the exploitation and the sustainability of the project. These partners came from the Netherlands, Spain and a vocational educational training European forum (EfVET).
Through Multiplier Events and different dissemination activities, online and offline, in all partner countries and in the general European community, we were able to target a wider group of stakeholders that will be part of the future of the Drone European Platform as well.
The consortium is eager and available to help in any matter related to this project to any individual or organization that might be interested in the matter. You can find the consortium contact information in the project website.
