Project Summary

In a European context where the digital skills mismatch with the labour market is growing at a similar pace as the opportunities that new technologies are offering to mainstream and increase the outreach of products, the cultural and creative sector cannot be left behind and need to be caught up with the latest digital strategies to engage new audiences and be an active economic motor. The cultural and creative industries, including all aspects of cultural heritage and artistic representations, which have been underexplored by a large part of the society for too long, need motivated and skilled professionals who are able to modernise, digitise and improve its accessibility, promotion and outreach according to the demand of the new digital era. To such an end, it is essential that the professionals in this sector are duly trained by educators equipped with new specific professional and digital skills. The reinforced competences will enable educators involved in the project to make significant contributions to the maintenance and updating of the cultural workers’ knowledge and skills, to the modernization and innovation of the products provided by the cultural/creative industry, and to improve employability.
The e-Heritage partnership is made up of 6 organisations from Bulgaria, France, Italy, Latvia and Spain, and coordinated by MyArtist, a Greek NGO expert in designing interactive cultural accessible books and guides, adapting cultural products to users’ needs as well as in skills development and transfer of know-how, especially related to art for marginalized groups. Its main aims, thus, will be to address the above-mentioned challenges by extending educators competences to train creative/cultural workers in order to equip them with the needed knowledge and skills to digitize cultural heritage and make it accessible to visitors with special needs.
The specific OBJECTIVES are:
– to extend educators’ professional competences to train workers of the cultural and creative field to be more digitally competent;
– to prepare learning materials to reinforce digital competences of creative/cultural workers, especially in the area of digitization of cultural heritage in order to showcase cultural potential of communities taking advantage of technologies;
– to create materials to support educators and training staff of creative and cultural industries to organize an accessible cultural event creating synergies between cultural heritage, audio visual content and technologies;
– to raise awareness about common EU cultural heritage and make it accessible to all, especially in terms of digitization;
– to promote cross-territory and cross-sectoral cooperation by establishing new synergies among cultural and educational actors.
There will be four main outputs developed within the e-Heritage project:

IO1: Online competence self-assessment tool for skills-mismatch gap analysis of adult educators engaged in creative/cultural industries
IO2: Training course for adult educators engaged in trainings for creative/cultural workers
IO3: Interactive map of artistic/creative objects to promote cultural heritage of partner communities and a database of good practices regarding digitization of cultural heritage and improvement of accessibility of cultural heritage.
IO 4: Guide on planning, publicizing, and organisation of accessible cultural event. Organization of accessible cultural events in local communities
The project will target DIRECTLY adult educators (trainers, mentors, advisors, etc.) engaged in creative/cultural industries and partner organisations. INDIRECTLY, it will target other stakeholders such as employees in cultural and creative industries, technicians of culture departments of municipalities, entrepreneurs working in cultural/creative areas, bodies engaged in cultural and creative sectors (cultural and civic organisations, museums art galleries…), tourism sector in general, etc.
Acting locally, implementation of products and methodologies targeting specific groups seems to have a higher impact, as it is customized and specific; however, it lacks a wider framework and, consequently, relevant EU issues and concerns should be taken into consideration. The partners believe that it is crucial to carry out the e-Heritage project transnationally, as it will boost the circulation of creative ideas, learning from the experiences of other countries, and, eventually it will ensure a higher level of quality in the materials and tools to be implemented through the prism of cultural diversity. Targeting a need as such, identified as an EU-wide priority, partners will guarantee that not only national communities’ benefit from the outcomes of the project, but also many other educators from Europe.
