Project Summary
The experience of international mobilities offered by Youth organisations in Europe are, when well prepared, a real added value to foster European identity. They promote a sense of tolerance towards diverse cultural and religious background and they provide young people with soft skills to manage projects in an international setting. Those skills are particularly needed nowadays to foster employability as young people are always more and more requested to work in an interconnected environment. However, Youth Organisations in Europe have been slow to start using distance learning tools that could allow them to better reach and tailor the preparation of young people before and after their mobility experience. To address this gap, this project produced an original e-learning course consisting of three modules presented within a Learning Management System which is now available at www.getreadyonline.org. Getreadyonline.org offers a tailored solution to better support the preparation of youth participants for international gatherings and projects, thus maximising their learning outcomes and the positive impact of such events.
The project objectives are to:
1. Raise the quality of youth mobility in Europe through the development of 3 training modules that contribute to the preparation of young people for mobility ( M1-Intercultural Learning, M2-Project management, M3-Self debriefing tool)
2. Strengthen the use of e-learning as a complementary training tool by youth organisations in Europe.
Four Partners from France, Iceland, the UK and Belgium have contributed to the development of this project, each bringing their organizations’ diverse skills and their rich experiences and fulfilled specific roles in the project.
The first objective has been achieved through the development of 3 e-learning modules that tackle the topics of intercultural learning, project management, and self-evaluation and meta-learning. The 3 modules were designed and adapted to the need of the partners to the project. Members of the team tested and evaluated the quality of the impact of the tool during the European event Roverway 2016 and during youth exchanage activities developed by CISV. 7 000 young people in Europe were directly targeted during the implementation of the project with a final target to more than 50000 young people from all over Europe.
The second objective was achieved through a dissemination event, during which the team promoted the three outputs of the project and informed the stakeholders about the way they can employ e-learning in their educational proposal and use the existing modules as a base for that.
Furthermore, the planning team of the project offers, upon request, support to other stakeholders on how to include e-learning into their own training strategy.
In the long term, getreadyonline.org will impact youth learning mobility across Europe through a) directly facilitating learning to increase the intercultural and European citizenship competencies, and the employability of young people; and b) providing a concrete example and evaluation data for research into educational tools and methodology.
