Project Summary

The idea behind our project was given to us by Dalai Lama’s quotation, „It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live”.
Our project, ”Eco Life in Eco Environment for European Citizens” – 4EU, involves 220 students aged between 13 and 17 and 25 teachers in five schools, covering all the type of general secondary schools, public or private: Liceul Tehologic PETROL Moreni, Romania; INSTITUTO DE ENSEÑANZA SECUNDARIA SANTA LUCÍA Spain; 3o Gymnasio Larisas Greece; OZEL TEVFIK KUSOGLU ORTAOKULU Kayseri Turkey and Agrupamento de Escolas Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes Olhão, Portugal.
The main purpose of the project is to provide to the participants civic skills to think and act in order to ensure a healthy life in a clean environment for their communities.
Project specific objectives, which will be realized during the next two years of the project are:
O1-improving the professional competencies of the teachers to promote ECO concepts and ECO behaviours for the students
O2-improving the knowledge about the causes and effects of climate changes and developing students skills in order to diminish their consequences
O3-raising awareness about the importance of protecting human health and our planet’s environment
O4- developing appropriate waste management skills at the personal, local, regional and national levels
O5- promoting the behaviours of living healthy and harmoniously, in accordance with the nature’s laws
O6- developing language and communication skills for civic and democratic participation in building active European citizenship
All project activities, both in schools and during LTT activities, will combine formal learning with nonformal and informal learning.

The methodology which we will use will be a mixture of formal, non-formal and informal creative methods: icebreaking, presentations, brainstorming, discussions, documentation trips, games, practical workshops, simulations, exercises, theatre, role-playing, reflections, team working for the final products.

Achieving these goals will be reflected in the following results:
Tangible results: the project website, brochures, an eTwinning kit, mini-guides of good practice, videos, presentations; posters, handicrafts from recycled materials.
Intangible results: better competencies for teachers in order to implement ECO concepts and behaviours; awareness of links between human health and the environment quality; useful knowledge for participants about the causes of climate changes and important skills regarding fighting against climate changes; encouraging a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

We will use the eTwinning platform, in all the phases of the project, because it offer to our students a safe controlled working environment for them to exchange news, data and information, before, during and after the LTT,by combining the virtual mobility via eTwinning, with the phisical one,

Through the project activities the participants will learn to manage current problems related to the environment, to combat the incidence of climate changes and their adverse effects; teachers will encourage students’ civic involvement by integration project results in curricula.
Students with fewer opportunities will be encouraged to participate in school’s and LTT’s activities, increasing social inclusion of them and reducing their risk of early school leaving as much as possible. Achieving these objectives is in line with national and European priorities which addresses our project: proposed activities will help participants become responsible European citizens, able to act for their own health and to advocate for the sustainable development of their communities.
We are aware that our project cannot be successful without cooperation and effective communication between all the partners. For this reason, we have a communication plan, ICT technologies having a fundamental role in order to allow contacts among us and the cooperative working.
Our project is a dynamic one, this is why we evaluate it as a process-oriented from beginning to the end. We will use a common strategy of evaluation, which will be made at the beginning of the project; it will respect the principles for ongoing evaluation and will enable permanent improvement of project’s activities.

The final products made within the project will be disseminated and valorised, so the results of our project will be multiplied.
By spreading the results of our project outside the participating schools and in to the surrounding societies, we will have our contribution in the process of creating a cleaner and fairer world by connecting schools from all over Europe.
