Project Summary
“Ecotainment serving students inclusion and involvment” is a project bringing four schools in Germany, France, Italy and Romania. Students involved are between 11 and 15 years old and are for most of them in a disadvantaged situation, whether it is socially, intellectually, culturally or economically. Our four schools are being confronted to the same issues to include those children, so we would like to work together, bring our skills and experience in order to find solutions and adapt, to improve the way we teach them. The aim is to allow the pupils to feel accepted with their pairs, in their school, to prove that they are valuables and that they have something to bring. In that way, we hope it will be easier for them to be included in society in the future and to feel welcome not just for the disadvantaged children but also to accept all differences among the students.
To do this, we have decided to work on the concept of ecotainment, innovative and original idea associating ecology to entertainment. Ecology being at the centre of the current debates in society, we believe it is essential that we raise awareness about it as soon as possible, so they can change their habits and influence their relatives. We hope they will then have a positive impact in their school, neighbourhood, town, and so on. They could bring dynamism around this topic. We believe that bringing the students to be actors of this project and by showing them that everyone can bring their competences for the common good, this will create a strong sense of community, will give confidence to those who need it, motivation to those who lost it and a new dynamism to all participants, students and by extension the educational staff.
To achieve our objectives, we have decided to start a Youtube channel where we will post videos for popularising ecology. Several specific topics will be discussed: waste, water, transport, overconsumption, etc. To do the videos, every school will undertake actions to help everyone to think about the impact of they everyday action on the environment. Once the reflexion step is over, we will think about solutions, remediation, we will look into what is already available and share what we will find. To keep constant contact and make sure as many people as possible are aware of the progression of our projects, we will also create a Facebook page to publish regularly our research, works, reflexions, doubts, etc.
In top of leading a huge reflexion work and modification of habits to save the planet, we would like to include all our students in a project including our school curricula. In that way, even the students that we categorise as “ non-academic” will find their place and for once, school will be adapted to them and not the opposite.
