Project Summary
CONTEXT OF THE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The project concerned the strategic international cooperation of schools from Poland, Austria, Romania, Turkey, Greece and the Czech Republic in the area of Montessori Erdkinder at junior high level (children aged +12)
PROJECT GOALS
The aim of the project was to strengthen the potential of the Project Leader and Partners by exchanging experience in the area of Erdkinder Montessori, cooperation of schools and dissemination of model elements of the Montessori method for young people aged 12+, in the period up to 31.08.2019.
The cooperation was implemented through:
– Supporting partner schools to ensure high quality Montessori Erdkinder teaching.
– Teacher-led student-led activities using active learning methods in accordance with Erdkinder by solving problems using multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches.
– sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences in the practical organizational dimension of the Erdkinder school and classes – especially to partners who are planning to implement the Erdkinder Montessori elements.
– international cooperation of teenage students participating in the Montessori Erdkinder education system
TARGET GROUPS OF THE PROJECT
– Teachers, teaching and managing staff partner schools involved in the implementation of the Erdkinder Montessori program, as well as those interested in incorporating or developing this method into their school activities.
– Students and pupils of partner schools aged +12, participating in the universal education system, Montessori education or Montessori Erdkinder.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIONS AND METHODOLOGY USED IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT
Four main groups of project activities were implemented in the project:
1. Staff training – mobility of school representatives for 5 days training organized in each Partner (6 trainings)
2. Co-operation of students from partner schools using the eTwinning platform – presentations of tasks of individual students / schools related to Erdkinder will be presented on the platform.
3. Cooperation of pupils from partner schools – short-term exchange of groups of pupils; 5-day bilateral exchanges of 12 students from Polish schools and students from schools in the Czech Republic and Austria (4 exchanges)
4. International Project Meetings – Project Management Team Meetings in every Partner school, on average one meeting every 4 months (6 meetings).
MAIN RESULTS OF THE PROJECT
1. Strengthen the professional competence of teachers by participating in international mobility and collaborating in the practical dimension of Erdkinder
2. Establishing a lasting, satisfactory international collaboration of students aged +12 from partner schools
3. Improve the quality of your partner school work by developing or implementing Erdkinder elements that will observe during participation in the project
4. Establishing a long-term partnership between schools.
IMPACT OF THE PROJECT
The project had the greatest impact on increasing the quality of education in partner schools that were implement or develop Erdkinder as a method of ongoing work. It has a positive effect on the involvement of teachers and students and the implementation of their lifelong learning concepts. Higher quality of education and upbringing thanks to Erdkinder implemented in the School by the teachers participating in the project influenced the wider use of the Montessori method in everyday life of students’ families.
POTENTIAL LONG-TERM BENEFITS
In the European and international dimension, the project has influenced the development of the Erdkinder Montessori method by sharing knowledge and practice across borders. The project was an example of a unique approach to raising teachers’ qualifications, equipping them with the competencies and skills necessary to provide high-quality educational services, and to meet the increasingly individualized needs of students and their parents.
