Project Summary
In a social context where Europe and employment are weakened, the future of young people is at stake. As a cornerstone of understanding the world and personal achievement, the school challenge is undeniable.
The European Union, which has a drop-out rate of 10% and a low success rate in higher education, shows signs of a fragile balance.
Confronted with this observation for both France and Italy, with dropouts’ students who have a strong apprehension of the world around them, European openness and access to foreign languages constitute strong assets to promote success and develop European citizenship.
The objective of the project is to aim at students’ success through the creation of an education module for Europe, named I2E (Education Itinerary to Europe). It is about raising the level of knowledge and skills of students, certifying mobility in European countries and facilitating employability with a diploma marked by an European course.
This module is based on an interactive, collaborative and innovative approach related to digital. Teaching tools used will be based on an active pedagogy where the student is an actor of his learning.
The elaboration of the module, its tools and contents will be done by the teachers during joint training events.
The experimentation of I2E content will be accomplished during learning activities that will take place through virtual exchanges (e.g. Skype, eTwinning) and physical mobility.
A USB key holding the contents of the I2E module will be given to each student. It will be upgraded as activities are done over the two years to allow students to consolidate their knowledge.
The recognition of scholar achievement will be attested as follows : mobility certificate, language certification (CEFR), Europass, mobility test and so on.
The module will boost the level of knowledge and skills of students, promote mutual understanding, develop language skills and empower students to enhance their employability.
The project targets all students, including dropouts ones. Forty students from two schools will be part of learning activities. The project is composed of two referents per country and several teachers.
A dissemination activity will take place in the parliament in Brussels so that all students, French and Italian, will display the I2E module and the work done over the two years.
The collaborative work will be finalized on a USB key for dissemination and portability to offer I2E module to interested schools. A website dedicated to the I2E will be activated to present the module to public.
In order to deliver the project on a regional scale, the DAREIC of Créteil led us to participate in a hearing before the committee for the international attractiveness of the Ile de France, chaired by the Rector of the Academy of Versailles. This committee has favourably approved the project, considering the validity of this module to promote the success of all students and strengthen the feeling of European citizenship.
