Project Summary
Nowadays science and technology contribute profoundly to the development of the education process as in every field. The EU 2020 Strategy also included the statement of the development of education and training systems to meet the needs of the information society. Information technologies has become a popular tool in the field of education not only in Turkey but also in Europe owing to its benefits in improving time management, being open access, transforming education into a fun learning process and building a close interaction between students and digital content. The labor market and social challenges of the 21st century have encouraged the people in education sector to apply different learning and teaching methods. The traditional education system is based on a teacher-centered approach, however the ultimate goal is to develop a student-centered education. In order to achieve this goal, it is critical to provide students with latest educational technology resources. Our project is planned on activities mainly based on the utilization of information technologies in education. These activities include concept cartoons, Common Craft, Stop Motion, interactive video and digital story applications as well. To illustrate, concept cartoons improve creative thinking through identification and elimination of misconceptions. Theyestablish a suitable learning environment based on visuality and thus give an opportunity to learners to be aware of different ideas and respect different opinions.Common Craft is an application used for peer learning and it plays a crucial role in language teaching and cooperative learning. Stop Motion animations improve the imagination and creativity of childrens. Since it requires a proper planning for the next step, it helps students to improve their planning skills. Interactive videos allow users to decide by providing a suitable environment foran easy transfer of their attitudes. With the help of digital stories, students become active producers instead of being passive consumers of multimedia.Since the digital story is an active process, it provides an exciting and entertaining climate in learning environments. The aims of our project:
-To strengthen the ability of our teachers to use technology in teaching
-To pave the way for learning and applying contemporary, creative and innovative techniques in interdisciplinary courses and critical evaluation
-To contribute to their professional development by raising their awarenesstowards learning and teaching processes in different countries,
-To change the perception ofstudents towards learning and encourage them to take an active role in production of ideas,
– To raise an awareness towards the use of technology,
– To improve the foreign language skills of our teachers and students,
– To enhance the capability of our institution to implement and execute international projects
Our project consists of 10 people who are well-educated in their own field with previous abroad experience, have good team-working skills and open to innovations and learning as well. Our project is planned to last in 21 months between October 2019 and June 2021 and comprises mobility to 4 countries. Our activities will start with an opening meeting in our country and proceed with the introduction of the Web 2.0 and technological tools used in our project, sample studies, joint eTwinning Project, investigation ofsuitable fields for the Web 2.0 tools related to the content of our project position and preparation ofproducts appropriate for each country’s educational curriculum. They will be finalized with online interviews where students will also take a part andworkshops, exhibitions and seminars that introduce the results. Our activities will be shared through brochures, newsletters, posters, banners and also social media with our upper institutions and other colleagues for a widespreadinformation and attraction. With the e-book to be prepared at the end of the project, corresponding activities and results will be announced to the national agency and all stakeholders as well.
During the project mentionedabove, while the countries are introduced into each other’s cultures, education systems and social lives, the students will also have an opportunity to learn more about different cultures and establish friendships. In the long term, web 2.0 tools will be the new face of education and ensure that our activities continue to be implemented after the end of the project owing to the positive changes they bring to education environments, students and teachers, and the interest of the new generation to the technology.
