Embracing Sustainable Tourism: A Weekend of Insight and Engagement with AITR

This year, in the context of its twenty-fifth anniversary, the Italian Association of Responsible Tourism has organized three days to celebrate responsible and sustainable tourism together with its members, partners and friends, through a commercial workshop, three conferences and cultural events. The weekend of 29 September – 1 October was chosen because it was very representative. First of all, it coincides with World Tourism Day – 27 September, this year dedicated to green and sustainable investments in tourism, a theme of great importance for us. But also because from 15 September to 15 October the 15th edition of the Bolognese stage of IT.A.CÀ will take place in Bologna, the largest and most important responsible tourism festival, organized in Bologna by the member Yoda aps.

In this context on the 30th September, AITR organized the multiplier event of the Digital Story Doing project: STRENGTHENING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF RURAL ENTERPRISES THROUGH DIGITAL STORYDOING.

The event, which saw the participation of an audience of tour operators from all over Italy, was introduced by the President of AITR Maurizio Davolio, who talked about the project and briefly presented its main objectives and the two main tools created: the training combo and the handbook. Maurizio then gave the floor to the three speakers, who presented their good storydoing and storytelling practices in the three areas, covered by AITR in the tools created for the project. Sonia Bregoli of the IT.A.CÀ Festival presented the theme of the promotion and dissemination of sustainability in tourism, Paola Author of CoopCulture spoke about the tourism product and how this finds form and visibility in integrated digital showcases. Finally, Andrea Trevisi from Territori Intraprendinti spoke to talk about participatory mapping and the importance of the latter for working in an integrated way, especially in rural areas.
