Project Summary
The project “Empower for Employability” (Double EM) was a partnership of four secondary schools from Germany, Greece, Romania and Italy. The general objective of the project was to enhance the students’ skills to make them more employable. Teachers agreed that many students from their schools lack the same skills in view of being employable. This project has been devised to tackle these key issues: learning and motivation, reflecting yourself, time management and project management. The objective was to enhance students’ knowledge about these areas in order to make them achieve their potential to a large extent. The topic of learning and motivation covered different approaches to learning and different kinds of motivation. Students learnt about how to adapt their learning techniques to their learning type and how to motivate themselves for learning. The compentence of reflecting yourself will be developed by looking at the students strengths and weaknesses. There were activities which challenged the students and helped them to overcome their weaknesses. The topic of time management gave students insights into different concepts of time and how to use time for their benefit. Students also learned about time management tools. Due to the Covid19 pandemic the topic of project management was only touched on. The international mobility could not be carried out. The students have gained knowledge and personal competencies leading to better self management at school resulting in better exam results. This has given students increased chances for further education at university or for finding an apprenticeship. To ensure sustainability of the result the partnerschools developed a Certificate of Personal Competencies which will be used at each school. The modules of the certificate are published on the project blog www.employability.blogspot.de so that other schools can use the material as well.
