Project Summary

Our main goal is to contribute to more inclusive societies based on equity and equal opportunities for girls and young women by empowering them into playing more active role in the society. We plan to achieve it through development of Girls Empowerment Centers directed to girls and young women, to work sustainably, be adaptive to changes and generate above mentioned societal change.
Our aim is to create a sustainable system for empowering girls and young women in L. Poland, Brandenburg and Brussels Region by developing “Operating Model” for Girls Empowerment Centers consisting of all aspects of its functioning from management style, communication, scope of activities, through interior design, which can be implemented and multiplied in many smaller and larger European cities.
Specific objectives:
– to develop, test and disseminate Operating Model for Girls Empowerment Centers adjusted to changing conditions and various target groups (girls from minority groups, with disabilities and social obstacles),
– to create, test and promote innovative, inclusive and adjustable for diversity pedagogical approaches and methodologies of empowerment education for girls and young women, based on good practices from 3 countries and innovative practices from other sectors,
– to develop necessary competences among educators, youth workers and trainers and equip them with tools to work on girls empowerment with diverse groups, within mentioned methodologies by development of competence model, creating and testing the training program for youth workers and educators,
– to promote high quality of empowerment education for girls and young women through thorough test, evaluation and assessment of the Operating Model for Girls Empowerment Center, educational methodologies and training program for youth workers.
The project should be conducted transitionally due to transnationality of the social problems diagnosed, but also in order to use the possibility of intercultural learning and learning from practices from 3 countries. Our partners perspectives involve working with highly multicultural target groups, incl. issues of religion, disabilities, or refugees. Polish perspective will bring to the partnership outwardly ethnic homogeneity, post communist and tranformation experience and traditional social norms.
Project activities will embrace:
I) development of intellectual outputs:
1) Operating Model for Girls Empowerment Centers to create a sustainable, transferable model for other entities and cities in Europe,
2) Empowerment Education Methodology with scenarios for activities for young girls and women (13-22),
3) Competence Model and Training Programme for Empowerment Educators,
4) Recommendations and Standards for the Models and Methodologies measuring its effectiveness and indicating policy solutions to make proper conditions for emerging similar centers.
II) learning activities:
1) Training of trainers for self-defense methodology initiating work on IO2,
2) Blended mobility initiating work on IO3 and finalizing IO2,
3) Training of trainers introducing intersectional perspective to empowerment education,
III) pilot and management activities:
1) study visit and kick off meeting to initiate work on IO1,
2) mid term meeting to plan pilot activities at a local level and tests of all IOs,
3) evaluation meeting to measure outcomes,
IV) Multiplying events and dissemination:
1) local seminars for more trainers,
2) final conferences.
The project will embrace 3 partner organisations, 3 Stakeholders Committees, 12 trainers trained internationally and 60 locally, and about 1000 young girls and women in age of 13-22 representing minority groups, disadvantaged conditions, (dis)abilities, cultural, religious, ethnic, gender identity etc. Stakeholders involved into the process are also decision makers at various levels, as well as formal education systems and families, communities, environments in which girls are being brought up.
