Project Summary

The “ENTERPRISE” Erasmus+ project aims to experiment with a new didactical approach among participating schools, based on the use of technologies and bilingual teaching of some subjects. Now adays, due to the recent Coronavirus emergency and the way in which our lifes have radically changed, it is clear that we need to acquire more digital skills: in the school context technology is able to ensure didactical continuity and to maintain human relations among the members of the educational community. The aim of ENTERPRISE is to increase the use of English and new technologies in school teaching, especially in support of the subjects considered more traditional and less “technical”. The project target (11-13 years) is a fundamental period in the growth of the individual, particularly suitable for new learning and experimentation; at this age, the first contact with technology has already happened and kids are very sensitive to the appeal of digital tools. The priority choice for this project is “strengthening the development of key skills (in line with the Council’s Recommendation on Key Skills for Lifelong Learning)”, promoting intercurricular collaboration, creativity and innovative learning approaches and environments, cooperating with stakeholders in local communities and abroad”. Other objectives are: the promotion of a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning with a particular focus on bilingual teaching and the increasing of interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). ENTERPRISE sets out the following objectives: 1) creating an innovative approach to teaching and learning; 2) strengthen bilingual teaching; 3) improve the methodologies and teaching technologies used, through comparison and exchange with foreign schools; 4) staff training, exchange of know-how and internationalisation of teaching methods; 5) knowledge and cultural exchange between pupils and teachers from different European schools. The project will involve 40 students (10 for partner) and 8 teachers (2 for partner) in exchange and mobility activities, while at least 50 students and 10 teachers for institution will take part in on-site activities. ENTERPRISE provides different types of activities: 1) local activities: training, research, content production with the new methodologies proposed, exercises, flipped classroom experiments; 2) four exchanges between groups of pupils: with joint practical exercises, cultural and laboratory activities, content production, comparison and dialogue; 3) three joint training events for staff: training on innovative teaching methodologies, e-twinning, experimentation of teaching a curricular discipline in English, exchange of good practices and know-how; 4) dissemination and promotion of ENTERPRISE, including through events in schools; 5) return activities, both through staff and through students; 6) production of a database within the project website, in which the work carried out by teachers and students will converge according to an open source philosophy. The project will use a democratic and bottom-up methodology to stimulate full involvement of participants. The planned activities will avoid notionality and frontality, encouraging the active commitment of staff and students, with team-building and flipped classroom strategies. The expected results are: 1) overcoming outdated and uninvolving teaching for children; 2) integration into the curriculum of each participating institution of a discipline taught in English; 3) general improvement of teaching, internationalization and exchange of know-how; 4) knowledge of other European school systems, according to a view of exchange and sharing. The impact on the medium/long term will be a greater opening of schools to Europe, the implementation of new learning strategies through the international exchange of know-how and best practices, the improvement in digital, linguistic, learning and social competence, which are four of the eight key skills for the long life learning.
