Project Summary
To play music or an instrument is, for young people (with or without a disability) an important opportunity to express themselves which not only promotes the general welfare, but also contributes to greater integration in society. So far there is little or no possibility that young people with a disability can learn and play a musical instrument outside of school hours, only in their spare time.
We therefore wished to engage ourselves with this theme and develop music courses without the necessity of learning to read music. To do this we first had to realize the different disabilities and exchange ideas/opinions with experts. With teachers and Freelance workers our aim was to develop various music courses, which suited the needs and abilities of the pupils, and to be tried out in a school with children and youths with higher learning difficulties. This meant development, adaption, recording and documenting.
With our partners we regularly exchanged and tried the different kinds of music courses developed.
The end of the project should result in music courses designed specifically for the different requirements and abilities of the children and youths wishing to learn an instrument
For one, there were the various music teacher and freelance staff who were involved in the development and implementation.
Especially children and young people of 10-20 years with increased needs, were addressed and approximately 30-40 children and young people participated. 4 Of these participants have since continued with private lessons at the youth center.
The newly developed courses should have been written down in writing. However this was overtaxing hence all results have been recorded on video and in writing.
