Project Summary

HBLA Ursprung (Austria) has carried out an exchange project together with IES José Luis Aranguren in Ávila. In total 28 students have travelled to Spain for one week, where they developed their language skills and knowledge of Spanish culture and worked on technical input in the field of agriculture and environment. The students are in vocational education in these topics and could add the international experience to their prior knowledge. Next to a language course in a training center (IEMA) the students worked together with their spanish co-students of same age on the mentioned topics by means of field enquiries. The co-operation and communication between the involved partners worked out excellently and enabled full coverage or all project topics. An excursion to Gotarrendura, a future-orientated village near Avila, showed the activities, which could provide access to alternative energies and modern communication for people in rural areas. In a field study the students interviewed citizens of Avila about their everyday life circumstances (eg. public transport, leisure activities,…). The students benefitted from using Spanish in their host families and gained insight into the topics agriculture and environmental protection in Spain. They will use their new knowledge for integration in the curriculum. The reputation of Spanish as a foreign language will rise at HBLA Ursprung through the project.
