Project Summary
The schools of this partnership, although located in different educational territories, share several common concerns regarding the role of teaching and learning (in schools) within a European and international context. It is a shared understanding that the training of students must take into account a balance between the development of academic, personal and social skills, without forgetting a global approach towards the development of critical, free, responsible and actively engaged citizens in their local, regional, national and international contexts. The way school is organised nowadays does not seem to include involvement in local communities and activities and / or tasks other than academic ones. After sharing information and developing knowledge about the realities of the schools involved in the partnership, we came to common situation: young people tend to spend a lot of time online, at home, using individual entertainment gadgets, either on their own or interacting with close friends and, somehow, not being aware of the (social) local communities they are part of. This way, it is our belief that there is a lack of social engagement and civic participation.
Thus, it is intended, with this project, that the students of our schools change their attitude, somehow passive and “disconnected” from the world around them and get involved and interact, within the cultural activities, in the local context and in the European context; we want young people to meet writers, musicians, playwrights, explore their works and question the world in which they live, taking into account and promoting the values of citizenship and intervention in the defense of the less favoured, towards active local communities, with impact at a national and European levels. The project should motivate and involve students to develop, in their communities and through digital platforms, organisations, clubs, groups of young people that share concerns, in order to become actively involved in the issues and problems of their local communities and in the issues that involve European citizenship. After the completion of this project, the schools of this partnership will continue to develop activities in cooperation with their students / youth through the organisations / clubs that, meanwhile, have been developed during the lifetime of the project. As for teachers, they will develop their work within a network, sharing their problems and experimenting, evaluating and reorganising the teaching and learning methodologies they collaboratively created during the activities of this project. This project also aims at increasing the awareness of the community for the opportunities of such projects; we would also like to highlight the European added value of the activities supported by the Erasmus programs. With a positive public perception of this project, we will be encouraging greater participation, especially of those with fewer opportunities, in the initiatives promoted within the scope of partnerships between European schools, and thus enhancing the implementation of school networks.
This way, making the results known within and outside the partnership is an ambition of this project, which is why a plan was developed taking into account the target audience, the dates, the scope, the participants and the dissemination activities. Regarding the timing of the dissemination, the partnership intends to share the results of the project upon its completion to enable the exhibition of the work carried out over the two years of the project. For the process, some objectives were set in order to expand the impact of the project, to involve the participants, so to contaminate the identified target groups, to share know-how and positive experiences in an atttempt to internally motivate students and teachers to participate in other projects as well as other institutions to develop new partnerships. Project participants will be invited to share good practices and results, already in collaboration with new elements of the partner schools carrying out activities so to promote interest in developing new projects and in contaminating future participants.
The dissemination also intends to increase the awareness of the community related to the opportunities within the European Erasmus programmes.
