Project Summary

„Eszterlánc” tradition preservation activities in kindergarten education through the implementation of our application gave us the opportunity to renew our tradition of traditional care. The kindergartens participating in the project – Hajdúsámson, Csíkszentdomokos, Ludas – jointly prioritized the inclusion of diverse areas of folk culture in our pedagogical work. We chose from a rich tradition, focused on local collections, the socio-cultural situation, took the developmental level of the children into account, and paid great attention to talent development. In addition to the diverse educational and developmental impact of the folklore activities in our pedagogical programs, we have carried out traditional preservation activities in our settlements. We have designed with special care the balance of game-learning and the professional and practical implementation of the organization of the sessions. At the kindergarten we laid the foundations, we loved the folk culture, and shaped and formed their Hungarian consciousness. The children gained a wide range of experiences in the complex activities, which were based on the cultural content. Developed abilities: social (co-operative, adaptive), emotional-volitional (open, direct, full-time) mother tongue (comprehension, vocabulary, articulation), intellectual (perception, perception, memory, attention, imagination, thinking) physical maturity, motor abilities (conditioning, coordination). We have made great strides in fine motor and eye-hand-foot coordination, which we have recorded on our skill sheets. They were able to work in teams, get creative, incorporate ideas and solve problem situations. With the implementation of our project we have provided further training in the educational institutions. The ethnographic knowledge of the teachers, their methodological tools, and the versatile use of folk customs in their daily educational work and in their own institutional practice have been expanded. We have implemented innovation, mutual learning, exchange of good practices, and improved our teaching competencies. Folk traditions were conveyed according to the given region in an authentic way, with presentations, video recordings and drafts. During the partner meetings and between the mobilities, we linked our activities in time to the holidays, celebrations, which were recorded in our annual event calendar. We assisted with the realization of our goal, the transfer of our good practices, the incorporation of the project method, the facilitation of the kindergarten and school transition with presentations and methodological recommendations. We prepared our project in Hungarian. During the 12-month term, we conducted 6 partner meetings. We gained personal experience, integrated the acquaintances into our daily practice, and prepared our written documents. We put great emphasis on reflection, dissemination activities, identifying our strengths and areas for improvement, developing them further. All of these will affect our institutions in the long run. We will continue our tradition-building activities with our partners, incorporating new content, further exploring the treasures of the children’s folklore of the regions, creating local depositories, editing local history books for kindergarten, which we will share with each other online and in the coming years. We consider the realization of our application to be a lifetime opportunity and a valuable initiative. We have taken the first step to familiarize our children, educators and our wider and wider environment with our tradition-building activities. We strive to enable our partners to witness and enjoy the experience at our traditional events, to join in and participate in them. We showed the way to renew our kindergarten education and to integrate folk customs into the pedagogical work of our institutions.
