Project Summary

Our young people are European citizens who are entitled to visit, live, study and work in any countries of the European Union. Therefore, as educational practitioners, we strongly believe that it is our duty and essential that our young people are given the opportunities to acquire the key skills to travel to and visit a foreign country in a more knowledgeable and confident manner.

The partnership aims at encouraging all project participants to develop their thinking, communication, digital competency, entrepreneurial and leadership skills in preparing for and organising a visit abroad. It is conducted in the format of a virtual travel agency within which all project participants are given the opportunity to discuss all aspects of what planning and embarking on a visit abroad entails. The partnership promotes team work, the importance of making decisions and its impact on the project as well as taking responsibility for the newly set up virtual travel agency. The school-based activities challenge the project participants into finding out what each participating school’s local and national cultural heritages have to offer, arranging and organising a budget and a programme for the visits.

During the two-year partnership, participants are also involved in various activities ranging from producing and exchanging different materials and information through digital presentations and realia on the participants’ respective areas and cultural heritage events to deciding on a name and a logo for the virtual travel agency as well as visits to the partners’ schools.

The project is designed to offer a balance of blended learning and experiential learning with prospects of Assessment for Learning, deepening critical and creative thinking, building on prior knowledge, creating learner autonomy and cross-curricular expectations.

The tangible end product of the project is a digital and published touristic guide on each of the participating institutions’ cultural heritages as a testimony of two years of collaboration. The project equips all participants with the necessary motivational skills to investigate and promote the world they live in further and confidently at local, national and global levels. Therefore, the ultimate outcome of the project is to support our young people to become better equipped European citizens with essential and inquisitive skills needed to explore their world and these skills will last for a lifetime.
