Project Summary

The Project “EUROPEAN ADULTS: TRAINING AND INTERNATIONALIZATION” was developed by a European partnership consisting of 6 organizations from 6 European countries: Portugal, France, Finland, Spain, Poland and Italy. The project´s general aim is to contribute to the development of a European area of Competences, through the conception and development of a European Platform to support and ensure the adults recognition, validation and certification of competences, carried out in other European countries, allowing the combination of theoretical and practical approaches, and extending the national “vision” to the European “vision”, in the context of Adult Education and Training.

The project developed a set of structured activities, shared by the partnership, over 3 years, to:
1. Elaborate matrices of correspondence between the practices of the organizations of the various countries, regarding the recognized methodologies and with innovative character in the recognition, validation and certification of competences;
2. Create the handbook “Key Competences Balance for Universal School Certification”, composed by a methodological guide for professionals (descriptive guide of the methodology followed) and a set of tools for the various stages and sub-stages of the work involved in the process of diagnosis, recognition, validation and certification of adults’ competences. This product is the result of the lack of national and international resources, since each organisation uses its own methodology and tools.
3. Develop a European Digital Platform to support and ensure the recognition, validation and certification of competences at European level. The platform integrates all the methodology developed in the previous point;
4. Implement a pilot study with 8 adults in social exclusion or at risk of social exclusion putting into practice the procedure of recognition, validation and certification of competences using the methodologies pointed out in the previous numbers;
5. Provide the group of adults with language training (English) in order to empower them and give them more fundamental tools in order to enter the labor market;
6. Provide to certified adults access to the European digital platform for other transversal training (linguistic, motivational, behavioral, entrepreneurship, among other themes) that will distinguish them at the moment of entering the labor market.
This project is based on the need to value, give credibility to and recognize the learning achieved by adults throughout their lifetime.
The intellectual products that resulted from this project were disseminated through multiplier events held in the partners countries and other activities.
