Project Summary

“European City 5.0: A place to live”.

The project aims, through FIVE predefined characteristics and FIVE European cities in the FIVE cardinal points of the continent, studying and comparing the cities of Europe, in order that the students recognize the different types of city that exist according to these FIVE characteristics: History, Urbanism and architecture, Art and culture, Social relations and Sustainability. And the ultimate goal, is that from these guidelines, we can define the city we wish and where we would like to live.
All this will be achieved with the participation of the entire educational community, through activities that involve the whole school and are conducted by the teachers and secondary students especially. Each of the participating members will contribute their particular point of view and especially in which they work, sharing it with the rest of the teaching staff.

Partners belong to five Cardinal points of Europe: Murcia from Spain (west), Battiplagia from Italy (south) Sofia from Bulgaria (east) Allerod from Denmark (north) and Mannheim from Germany (centre). Cities completely different because of their geographical location on the continent, because of their culture, because of the people who inhabit them and because of their size and their entity, (Capital, province, capital, dormitory city, etc.)

In this project we want to work with different subjects in an interdisciplinary way:
* Study the history of the city from its foundation until the changes of the 21st century.
* Represent the monuments and corners of the city graphically, creation of plans in which the development of the same according to different times is observed.
* Study the sustainability of the city from different areas, both ecological and economic.Using statistical tools to study the development of the city, as well as the different types of population.
* Using the English language for comunication and dissemination of the project. And Spanish whenever necessary, as in the writing of papers and research and in the study of the specific vocabulary of the subject.
* Creating urban routes that promote health and knowledge of the city at the same time.
* Valuing Catholicism and its contribution to the idea of creating a European city and Continent.
* Studying the different types of population that converge in the current city. Religions, migrations, relations between different types of citizens, by age, religion, nationality, etc with a methodology of Cooperative work in Projects taking into acoount the European Competences.
* Using ICT, educational platforms and social networks for dissemination and research of the works.
* Creating forums for student participation that lead to conclusions to improve the city in which they live.

All this is intended to be done from the field of cooperative work and multiple intelligences among the different partners participating in our projecj. We intend to create a critical spirit in our students, who know how learning to learn, creating their own way of directing the works and activities, always guided by the teaching staff.
We wish with our project to be focus on those students who, for whatever reason, are far from the school activities and learning, working social inclusion, diversity and Social Values, developing the civic and intercultural competence; we want to motivate our students to do a live and real work in accordance with the teaching of the 21st century. In the same way, therefore, we can better help students with special needs and disadvantages who require other types of learning and methodologies.

This project will be carried out with secondary school students, between 12 and 15 years, but with the participation and implementation of all the students of Secondary School; activities in order to develop the different programmed subject in a interdisciplinary way.

We think that this is a project from which we can take a lot of advantage for ourselves, as for other external agents, such as local authorities.
Our intention is to create a free material which can be used for the future, creating teaching resources that we can share both in our schools and outside of them, as well as a publication that we can share with our local authorities. Our idea is to spread as much as possible, we believe that the young people studying in our schools have a word to say as European citizens who are and who choose the place where they want to live, concerning our European and Cultural Patrimony through a quality Education.
