Project Summary

The 5 partners from RO, IT, TR, PT and GR have decided upon developing a school exchange partnership about bullying phenomenon in schools after having run detailed SWOT analysis of their school educational environment which emphasized the need of taking measures for preventing and solving the bullying events that occur on the school premises almost daily. It has been concluded that pupils need to take part in informal/non-formal activities which can create awareness related to all aspects of bullying: causes, types, effects on bullied, bully and by-stander, forms of preventing it and solutions. The teachers in partner schools need to exchange theoretical knowledge and practical solutions in order to improve their teaching activity, the schools’ anti-bullying policies and the educational environment. The concrete objectives of this project are:to increase awareness of participating pupils and teachers related to bullying in school; to develop pupils’soft skills and civic competences to prevent failure in education; to enhance teachers’pedagogical strategies; to develop pupils’and teachers’ English language and ICT skills. All the proposed activities will lead to the objectives’achievement and to the participants’ increased opportunity to social inclusion.Increasing awareness of bullying is done by promoting 5 key values: respect, friendship, empathy, peace and openness towards other cultures which are pursuit throughout all designed activities: workshops during mobilities, inventing the anti-bullying comic hero, singing NO! to bullies, making a multicultural graffiti, making friendship tiles, creating scenarios on different types of bullying and from different perspectives: bully, bullied and bystander, finding solutions for each situation in teams, inventing team games and playing them. The activities proposed in this partnership are complex, aim at achieving the proposed objectives, they pursue the use of pupils’ knowledge from different school subjects and direct at developing pupils’ language, digital and social skills and teachers’ teaching competences, communication and digital skills.
There are planned five 5-day periods of LTT activities: 2 in the 1st year and 3 in the 2nd year. During each period, there are organized Short-term exchanges of pupils where each partner takes part with 4 pupils and Short-term joint staff training events where 3 teachers from each partner take part.Teachers are also accompanying persons for participating pupils.During mobilities, there are organized various theoretical and interactive workshops, pupils and teachers take part in regular classes in the host school. Pupils are accommodated in host families, teachers in hotels. The aims and planned activities of teachers’exchange periods pursue the exchange of best practices in teaching between participants who attend different workshops/seminars and also regular classes in order to strengthen the profile of teaching profession.
The 5 partners intend to involve in this project a total of 560 pupils, aged 12-15, who need to understand the phenomenon and become aware of its effects and also 75 teachers who need to improve their understanding of the concept and the teaching techniques. There will be a total of 75 participants with fewer opportunities who will be integrated in project activities and supported by specialized teachers where necessary.
The results envisaged include: creating a project site, a Facebook page, posting the project on eTwinning, making a Twin Space, a report on questionnaire results, a leaflet on bullying, a comic, posters, a Bullying Awareness Book with scenarios and solutions,a Resource Book For Teachers With Lessons, Activities And Resources. All these materials will be used in the future teaching activities of all partner schools, in diversifying the school educational offer as optional curriculum and also as a basis for improving schools’ anti-bullying regulations.
The impact envisaged by the project refer to direct participants-pupils, teachers and indirect participants-other teachers and schools, parents, school managers. The involved pupils improve their knowledge about “bullying”, to develop their English skills, digital skills and social competences in order to make them responsible citizens. The participating teachers improve their teaching skills, create new and necessary teaching materials, learn new ideas about how to prevent or fight bullying. The partner schools improve their management as they are exposed to examples of school management from other education systems. All these are benefits for long term for all partners.
Project management is ensured by coordinators participation in 2 project meetings, prompt communication, by appointing a responsible for project monitoring in each team.
eTwinning is used for virtual mobility of pupils, to upload project outcomes, to disseminate the results, to evaluate the mobilities, to make the project more open and accessible to other schools.
