Project Summary

Fairy tales are universal literary works, it is a rich, dynamic and creative way of verbal literature tradition, so the aim of the project was to improve pupils’ learning and cultural values, to understand the different through fairy tales and fairy-tale characters, and to improve student reading, writing and creative thinking skills.
 Unlike the real world, almost any thing is possible in fairy tales. Thanks to the exaggeration and contrast, a mysterious world is created. Working with fairy tales, children move away from the real world through imagination and fairy tales, thus improves their creativity. Fairy tales create emotions and creativity for children. Social aspects of education are cultural learning and teaching activity. Fairy tales occupy a prominent place and are important in communicating society’s cultural values. The objectives of the project in this context are:
– providing pupils with training on the values ​​and structure of different societies in which they live through fairy tales and heroes of stories;
 – to increase the academic achievement of pupils by ensuring the development of the mother tongue;
 – to develop pupils’ writing and creative thinking skills.
 Project activities were directly and indirectly involved in about 6,000 participants, less than planned, due to a the failure project visit to Ankara. Project partner school parents, pupils, teachers, local partner schools (community partner school, partner school graduates, local community); groups interested in the subject of the project (institutions, training for teachers and educational institutions that educate pupils in pedagogy, creative thinking, creative writing, communication skills, literature), have indirectly benefited about 590 participants, it is expected that more interested people have benefited from the project.
In total, the project hosted four international project meetings, which took place over two years. LTT activities took place twice. In the first year of the project, activities such as getting to know partner countries, reading and analyzing fairy tales, stories and methodological materials were carried out according to the theme “I am reading a tale”. In the second year, under the theme “We are writing a European tale”, activities such as writing and dramatizing original tales, stories were performed.
A survey of pupils and teachers was carried out at the beginning of the project and during the course of the project, data from two different sample groups, teachers and pupils were collected with the aim of finding out:
  – understanding of cultural differences and the structure of society;
  – how social structures and culture in different countries are respected;
  – how tolerance and understanding in society are promoted;
  – whether foreign language skills are improved for pupils and teachers;
  – whether EU citizenship of project participants is developing;
  – how ICT skills are improved through the use of ICT;
  – whether prejudices against the difference are being reduced;
  – how students develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  – how students feel empathy;
  – how develops pedagogical workmanship.
The results of the survey show that self-confidence of pupils and teachers has increased, language, entrepreneurial skills and ICT competence have improved, they have become convinced of their project management skills. They are familiar with the cultures and traditions of other nations. They have acquired new skills in the process of teaching and learning, such as international cooperation skills, creativity and critical thinking skills, they understand the importance of tolerance and creative teaching methods.
The results of the project show that the planned activities (mini conferences to provide information, use of the website to disseminate the results of the project, involve pupils, teachers, families, local authorities in international meetings) the local communities are informed about education with a European dimension. All methodological materials, presentations, videos, etc. developed during the project are placed on the ‘Erasmus +’ program distribution platform for anyone interested.
 After the end of the EU funding the following activities/approaches will be maintained; cooperative approach, competency-based learning, teachers’ team work, use of innovative approaches in education, effective communication between teacher and student, use of ICT.
