Project Summary
Project name :
European youth for a greener future : changing together ! (2019/2021)
Context of the project :
Joseph Anglade secondary school is located in the south of France, between Narbonne (20 km) and Carcassonne (35 km) in Lézignan Corbières (12 000 Ha). More than half of the 730 students use school transport to come from the Lezignanese region, the Corbières and the Minervois. It is a very rural and disadvantaged area with some students who have never been to the sea (40 km away) with their parents !
Most of our students lack initiative, investment and ambition.
Some school trips or exchanges are organized but they are often expensive so they can’t afford it.
After working since 2013 with students from the scientific workshop on the theme of eco-mobility, it seemed natural to us to look for partners on e-Twinning to start an Erasmus+ project on the theme : European youth for a greener future : change together !
Number and profile of participants :
130 students (12/15 years old) will participate in this project, divided into 4 schools : Midsund skule (Norway), OSG Hengelo/Bataafs Lyceum (Netherlands), Gymnasio Neapolis Lasithiou (Greece) and Joseph Anglade secondary school (France). Among all these students, about 50 of them come from disadvantaged socio-professional categories and/or have academic difficulties.
Objectives :
This project will develop the students’ skills and competencies through innovative (video stop motion, e-book, Kahoot) and collaborative practices (eTwinning, TwinSpace, Google Drive, Padlet), as well as digital tools to inform, question, calculate, broadcaste (ICT, Libre Office, Google Forms, Prezi, Learning Apps, Bitly, Mentimeter, Vimeo).
All these students will carry out group and/or individual activities to improve speaking skills, especially in foreign languages.
Description of activities :
We will address several topics :
European overview for a greener future and a focus on the history of transport in France
Sustainable development in transport and a focus on cycling in the Netherlands
Ecological means of transport and focus on snow/ice travel in Norway
The sustainable city of the future and a focus on the history of transport in Crete (Greece)
4 student mobilities will be carried out in 2 years. Each host country will receive students from the other 3 partner countries at the same time. Each mobility will be an opportunity to zoom in on the host country.
Methodology used to carry out the project :
The Dutch and Norwegian partners have already carried out an Erasmus KA229 project. In addition, they are really involved in eTwinning. The Greek partner has no Erasmus and eTwinning experience yet. As for us (French partner), we have already participated in several projects involving several French institutions, as well as in 2 ESE (Expo-Sciences Europe).
Each team, carrying out an action, will be autonomous in its realization while respecting :
* regular internet exchanges to move the action forward
* an exhaustive definition of the action in a collaborative way
* the activities of the action and its timetable
* a regular report on the progress of the action
* the realization of 4 Erasmus Events entitled “let’s run for the planet : changing together ! ” : media coverage of the relay ran by students from the 4 countries and calculation of the carbon equivalence corresponding to different means of transport
* a final report of the action: on TwinSpace, at the school library and during an evening presentation to all those involved in this project (families, colleagues, administration, partners).
Expected results and impacts :
We will produce posters, a stop motion video, a survey of all students from the 4 partner schools on their travels to school, a review of the results on the TwinSpace eTwinning, graphics, an e-book and/or mobile phone application, a calendar and DVD with our best articles, reports, photos/videos, a presentation/restitution evening.
Potential long-term benefits :
A change in the behaviour of our students to develop greener transport.
To increase the skills of our students, remotivate exceptional students, enable students to want to work abroad, open them to other cultures, increase their level of English and make them more comfortable speaking.
To encourage my colleagues in carrying out other Erasmus projects, with our help and experience.
An awareness of the leaders of the cities where we live in order to move towards a more ecological future.
