Project Summary

The project was ideated by the Commission for European Projects of ITS “Franchetti Salviani” di Città di Castello-Italy, under the supervision of the School Headmistress. The Commission created a row structure of the project, then published on the eTwinning Platform to find other European partners and share the idea with the eTwinning community. On the basis of a first draft, 4 partners progressively joined in the project, very interested both to its content and to its methodology. Subsequent contacts among the partners happened through the eTwinning platform and by exchange of emails. The partners then held a first three-days meeting in Città di Castello – Italy, during which they worked together to develop the original core of the project. They met again in Breslavia – Poland – for three days, to interact in presence and proceed to the subsequent development of the project, propose new ideas and solutions, design the work to be done to complete the project, to individuate:
– Needs of each partner school relating to the project
– Target groups
– School Background and Experience
– Stakeholders who will benefit and will be target of the project activities
– Activities in which the stakeholders will be involved
– Project impact at the local, regional, national and international level
– Results expected during and at the end of the project
and create a scheme on Sustainability and Dissemination activities of the project.
Project objectives:
– develop and increase interest in other cultures, a better knowledge/use of European native and non-native languages of the pupils of the partner schools and of English as a common mean of communication
– increase the capacity of the 5 schools participating in the project to offer and sustain a quality education to all the school pupils, including those coming from disadvantaged groups and to develop a behaviour based on the understanding of values, respect towards other cultures, by consolidating the European dimension of the education and training process
– improve pupis’ skills and results by promoting cooperative learning, peer education and critical thinking through researching into European and non-European stories and by increasing self esteem
– improve teachers’knowledge, abilities, competences of working in formal/non-formal frame through exchange of good practices, transfer of innovative methods, collaborative learning, team work.
Partner schools: 1) ITS Franchetti Salviani-Città di Castello, Italy:Technical School, Coordinator;2) IES Julio Verne-Bargas, Spain: High school institute and vocational training school;3) Colegiul Economic Ion Ghica, Targoviste, Romania: Technical and Vocational School 4) Mehmet Uzal Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi, Burdur,Turkey: Social Science High School
Direct beneficiaries:150 pupils (aged between 12-18) of whom 60 pupils with fewer opportunities, 25 teachers from partner schools
Project activities:
– Project management activities
– Informative, promotional and advertising activities
– Short-term exchange of groups of pupils, course on Story Analysing in Spain and relating activities
– Short-term exchange of groups of pupils, course on Graphics, Book Assembling and Printing in Italy and relating activities
– Virtual short-term mobility organised by the Romanian partner in accordance with the other partners (evaluating, monitoring, adjusting)
– Sustainability activities
– Dissemination activities
Implementation Methodology: teamwork, peer-to-peer education, brainstorming, workshop-sites, documentation, practical activities, visits, discussions, role play, team building
Results and impact – Potential long term benefits:
Pupils:
– develop interest/respect for other cultures
– develop a European citizenship awareness
– improve school results
– increase of self confidence/motivation to perform, learn and think critically/independently
Teacher -Development of:
– professional skills/competences
– linguistic abilities
– new transversal curricula to be implemented in the school
– pedagogical competences by comparing the system, practices, politics, educational systems with those in partner countries
schools:
– an open-minded attitude towards Europe
– diminishing school failures of students, through increased motivation and perfecting relationships between students, and between students and teachers
Families/other stakeholders:
– fostering of inter-generational relationships
– educating pupils to be aware and responsible citizens, and to build positive relations
– favouring school integration with territory/local community
Regional, national and European impact:
– promotion of national/international common values, such as respect for cultural and linguistic diversity, inclusive education
– creating a European area of education/training for attainment of the Lisbon strategy’s objectives.
At the start of the project, the Polish partrner withdrew, because of their school organisational reasons.
