Project Summary

The Covid-19 crisis has evidenced, among other issues, that the field of education is not 100% prepared to face a virtual, online and/or distance teaching model. This is especially notable in adult education, because this group of the population has a deficit in digital skills and in the use of electronic educational platforms.

This is the starting point of the project “Exchange of good practices for promoting virtual education among adult people through electronic platforms (eAdults)”, which arises from the need to seek, identify and evaluate which are the most effective educational platforms and methods in a context of virtual teaching for adults.

The general objective of this project is:

– Provide evidence on the most effective electronic methods and platforms to successfully promote virtual, online and distance education in adult people.

The specific objectives of this project are:

– Analyse the context and variables that make electronic platforms and methods effective in virtual, online and distance learning.
– Identify what characteristics make up the electronic platforms and methods of virtual, online and distance teaching (especially in adult education).
– Evaluate the effectiveness of electronic platforms and methods that are active or have been implemented (especially in adult education).
– Create a guide on what are the most effective electronic teaching methods and platforms, so that educators can carry them out in their virtual teaching activities with adult people.

The above objectives will be achieved through an exchange of good practices between Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Thanks to this exchange, the entities that are part of this project will be able to increase their knowledge in the field of virtual education and electronic platforms in the field of education (specially among adult people):

– How to properly use electronic platforms to reduce gaps between adult people and virtual education.
– How to design and carry out virtual teaching activities for adult people.
– How to promote virtual education (and the use of electronic platforms) with the participation of educators and adult people.

To develop it, the following steps will be taken into account:

– A context analysis of virtual education and electronic platforms in adult people will be held in each country (through academic references and focus groups with educators and adult people).
– Search and selection of electronic platforms in the field of education (through the criteria achieved in the previous step).
– Assessment (by partners, educators and adult people) of the electronic platforms selected through an evaluation template.
– Elaboration and publication of a decalogue of good practices, with guidelines on what are the most effective electronic platforms in virtual education for adult people.

The project is expected to generate evidence for other educational entities (or dedicated to the field of education), so they can develop new, alternative and effective virtual teaching activities tailored to the needs of educators and adult people. At the same time, the project serves as an initial shot for partners to continue researching virtual education and, later, to design their own electronic platform for adult education.
