Project Summary
The project includes an exchange over a period of 24 months between the partner schools Higher Vocational School for Business of the Cistercian Abbey Zwettl and the Zspol Szkol in Wladyslawa Szybinskiego.
Project goals include the exchange of knowledge concerning matters of teaching and learning especially in science and IT. There is a focus on laboratory analysis in chemistry and microbiology. Participants work independently but they are assisted by teachers of the subjects mentioned before. The students learn to conduct laboratory analyses. They take samples, do the analyses and interpret the results. In the field of IT the students concern themselves with programming. Programming tools as well as robots are employed.
Students and teachers are to gain skills in research and pedagogy. Furthermore, there is a focus on the exchange of cultural knowledge. At the end of each project week there is a closing ceremony in the course of which the students perform traditional dances and present their culture.
The working language during the project is English. As a result, English skills will improve. However, we also find it important that participants gain basic skills in the language of the respective countries. The visiting school will receive a beginners’ language course.
Another goal of the project is to provide students with the opportunity to establish personal contact beyond national borders.
All participants receive a certificate, again serving as an additional qualification for a future career.
About 31 students and a group of teachers visit the partner school, where the same number of students and teachers participate.
