Project Summary
Context/Background: To meet the new demand from the society and from the National agency of education in Sweden we have discussed in the school how to deal with the question of taking in the subject programming on the schedule. We have been looking for good examples, and some kind of cooperation to understand how to plan and implement the teaching and learning in school. When meeting the staff at Lycee Professionnel le Corbusier we understood that we have the same issues, and facing the same kind of problems. To solve this matters internationally was also an interesting part of the discussion. We decided to cooperate and make a project together. We could find different ways of meeting the EU goals and we decided to work with a few:
The goal is mainly linked to political goals the EU have in the educational questions to the year 2020.
* To strengthen the teachers’ profile and status.
* To get 90 % of the young students to finish their education in upper secondary school.
To sum up, the activity to reach the goal for the two schools:
*The school shall work to support and motivate all students to fulfill their education.
* The school shall work to motivate the students to be present every day in school and to attend all of their classes. Because, this is a key factor to succeed.
* The school shall work with the internationalization in a modern way, which enables the student to easily get the job they want, or manage to go on to higher studies.
Objectives of the project: The project we would like to start will be based around programming, and how to work with programming in the school, as this is a new part of the Mathematic subject. We hope that, together with our partner in France, we will put a light on this area, and that we can give some knowledge to each other. Strengthen the teachers in the subject and that the project will motivate the students in both countries. We have discovered that we have a great need of developing the learning of how to use programming in our daily life. We would like to take the opportunity to work together n two schools, to get different point of view on this matter. Furthermore, we will learn from each other and develop a higher level of knowledge.
Number and profile of participants: In Designgymnasiet it will involve the Technical program and teachers around those classes. In the Lycee Professionnel le Corbusier it will involve the Vocational program and their teachers. 10 students and 2 teachers from each school will attend to visit the other school during the project.
Activities:
1. To start the project: Studies will be made with additional grounds for planning a programming model. Contact will be created between the two countries, France and Sweden. E-Twinning activities will startup. This will start already this spring, and if we do not get the grant, we will continuing working with eTwinning together.
2. The first year of the project: Programming and design for one or two products together with the two schools. Working with Maths in programming. The work will go on inadequate courses for Math and Design and the common methodology in these subjects will be used. To connect the work with the product the students will start to create a Programming workbook. Elected representatives, students and teachers, from the Swedish school will go to France to look at the French process, and learn from that.
3. The second year of the project: Working with the process of creating the Programming workbook. This work will continue during the whole project. Result and impact: The product which is made from the programming process, and the Programming workbook will be presented in the end of the project. Elected student and teachers from the French school will visit Designgymnasiet on the Design day, an exhibition, in May. The Design day is a day at Designgymnasiet, where the student present all their work they have been created during the year. This will be an excellent final for the programming project. People who have an interest in the school will be invited, like parents, branch people, and people from the company Academedia, which Designgymnasiet belongs to. They will come to market the school and show pictures and films of what is happening at Designgymnasiet. We will all together, the French and the Swedes present the work we have done together.
Longer terms benefit: All these activities will achieve a higher level of understanding of programming, a social side of the project, a motivation for the students to manage to take their exam. The teachers will reach a higher status and it will give them a good profile. The possibility, to with Erasmus+ give the students and teachers in Designgymnasiet the opportunity to together with students and teachers from the school in France, develop and work with a subject that is new, modern, and important for the future, is really worth while to work with.
