Project Summary

The preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights starts with the words “recognition of the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world”. The concept of democracy cannot be divorced from equality issues. The existence of inequalities within or between societies obstructs effective citizenship. The idea of equality is therefore at the heart of education for democratic
citizenship. As such, in this project, we will work on the issue of equality, democracy and social justice and empower our students to take action against all forms of discrimination.

The Partner schools will use the framework of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child to help students to understand and appreciate common human values. And our project will be guided by the general objectives of the Human Right Convention.

Equality, democracy, social justice and Human rights education will give partner schools around the Europa a shared language of equality, non-discrimination, inclusion, respect, dignity and participation that is crucial to the goal of achieving a more peaceful and just global society.

These project will also be a tool for the prevention and resolution of conflicts by enhancing the respect for human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

Discussing sensitive issues prepares students for democratic participation in later life. When we choose to embrace hot topics, we’re making a choice to let students learn vital life skills and learn from the moment.

Educating students about Democracy and Human Rights empowers our students with learning they can use far beyond the classroom – in fact they will take it out into the school corridors and playground, into their homes and beyond into the wider community. The respect and tolerance it teaches will help us and our students to create a healthier, happier, fairer World, and will lead to reductions in bullying and other negative behaviour, and improvements in attainment and aspirations.

On the short-term, the project aims to constructively in a multicultural world and to develop a sense of community and belonging.

On the long-term, the project aims to help raise the quality of European citizenship education and active participation of young people in European human rights work.

The project objectives are to sensitize young people on their human rights and the rights of others, increase active participation of young people in society, enhance civic commitment of young people towards human rights protection and promote positive attitudes to the EU vales of democracy and human rights and fundamental freedoms thereby fostering a culture where human rights are understood, respected and promoted.

The project will sensitize young people on their human rights and the rights of others, increase active participation of young people in society, enhance civic commitment of young people towards democracy and human rights protection and promote positive attitudes to the EU vales of human rights.

Students will develop a set of cognitive, affective, and behavioral skills and characteristics that support effective and appropriate attentiveness to and analysis of equity and democrasy.

Exploring the Role of Youth in Social Justice and Human Rights .Through this series of activities students will:
– understand better the nature of human rights: they are preconditions that enable every human being to live with dignity;
– increase their knowledge of and their insight into the internationally recognised human rights;
– increase their capacity to recognise infringements of human rights;
– increase their insight into how they could contribute to improving respect for human rights;
– increase their insight into and awareness of the responsibilities connected with human rights: the
responsibilities of the state and of institutions, as well as their own moral responsibilities.

Our partners represent contrasting social and economic backgrounds, and a diverse collection of communities from across Europe. By working together to deliver our aims about human rights we will be successful in showing our students, parents, staff and others, how people from different parts of Europe can work together in order to improve relations and create a more cohesive European citizenship.

The participants will include young people whose age ranges from 14-18 years and to provide gender equality, we will choose equal number of boy and girl participants. Participants will be actively involved in local, regional, national and international projects and activities.

The project will promote its own unique model of cooperation as inspiration for others. Together with global partners sharing our values, the project will work towards global peace and stability, and to promote democracy and human rights.
