Project Summary
The rationale behind this project was to inspire the pupils to get more interested in history and show them history in its complexity. We wanted them to learn, how history influenced our everyday life. In this project we focused on of the 19th century. How did the industrial revolution changed the everyday life? The technological revolution has changed not only the material a life, but also the way of thinking. On this topic we worked interdisciplinary (topics such as physics, science, labor rights, emancipation, social problems, etc.). The aim of the project was fullfilled thanks to following activities:
5 partners from 4 European countries (Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia and Germany) focused with students aged 15-20 on various aspects of that era. We discovered how each city and region have changed during the industrial revolution.
We organized 4 international symposia for a total of 138 students from 4 countries, 950 students took part on activities in home schools. We created a photo calendar from the 19th century that reflected our project work, we prepared photo books about our cities and towns and website of the project.
This project was a succesfull international cooperation that will continue also in following years. Our students are more motivated to understand their own history and they understand better the context of living in 19. century they also improved their foreign language skills and found its practical use (in learning each other internationally
