Project Summary
Financial Literacy International Programme (FLIP) aims at financial education. Its main goal is to establish an efficient and sustainable model of financial education through development and implementation of the Financial Literacy course at the participating universities which will ensure the regular flow of students who will be educated to deliver financial literacy to disadvantaged citizens. The university students are multipliers who can reach and spread acquired knowledge further among their families, acquaintances, community, and other citizens in their natural social environment which will significantly contribute to positive change in their financial behaviour.
The originality of the model prevails in the aim of financially educate underprivileged citizens through university students. Implementing the Financial Literacy course into the university’s study plans is a unique element facilitating the multiplying effect of disseminating financial education among the population. What is more, the programme has ample effects. The students absorb the financial knowledge at the university and amplify it through delivering such knowledge in practice to the disadvantaged citizens. The project incorporates the component of expertise and skills together with support for practical and personalised learning.
The profile of participants ranges across population including university students, adults, vulnerable groups, including socially disadvantaged citizens. Therefore the activities consist of intellectual outputs, such as the development of Financial Literacy virtual learning platform, university course Financial Literacy, the creation of online interactive materials and course curricula, and research supporting the outputs development. The disseminating activities involve the active transfer of gained knowledge via young adults to socially disadvantaged citizens, through visiting asylum houses, children houses and other institutions.
The FLIP programme aims to develop an innovative and sustainable model of financial education where programme participants will pass such knowledge and skills to other citizens hence it has the potential to improve the level of financial literacy of the whole population in general.
