Project Summary
The preparation of children for life during and after schooltime in all circumstances of life has become the main focus of general education, but especially of secondary schools. In addition to the knowledge and competence transfer within the given curricula, key qualifications are required, which unfortunately are less and less taught by the private environment of the students. The rapidly changing social challenges make it inevitable, for schools, to respond with appropriate and life-relevant measures.
The cooperation and the exchange with the involved partners should help to get to know, to compare and to implement suitable measures regarding a successful design of action strategies in school and leisure time.
The fast pace of today and the enormous pressure to perform pose great challenges for people. For one, it is important to be well-educated. At the same time, it helps to be fit in the most diverse areas: mental, physical, social and cultural aspects have a major role. At the same time, the young people must be shown strategies to make their lives successful and to prepare well for future tasks. “Best / Good Practice” examples are needed here, which should be optimized and creatively supplemented in intercultural exchange.
It also raises the question of suitable preventive measures, in which we can learn from each other during the European exchange. Important aspects are nutrition, physical fitness, violence prevention, drug prevention, the question of extracurricular support systems, but also the sensible use of digital media.
With this background, the project title “Fit for life prevention and preparation for a modern Europe” was created.
Secondary schools from 6 different European countries will participate in this project: Germany (coordinating), France, Romania, Poland, Portugal and Italy. All participating schools are experienced in exchanges with ERASMUS + (strategic school partnerships). A total of seven activities are planned during the project, the first of which will be characterized by learning and teaching activities for teachers in the area of training and implementation of the “Lions Quest” program. Each of the following activities will be attended by 4 students and 2 accompanying teachers.
Further learning, teaching and training activities should include the following topics:
Dealing with digital media in the past, today and tomorrow
Adequate preparation for a mental and physical health and thus an increased resilience
Meaningful leisuretime activities
Career preparation
Teacher and pupil health – dealing with challenges and stress
Concepts for prevention measures in school and society.
The methodological approach is project-oriented learning in each case, whereby between the activities the topic for the next activity is prepared in school and regionally for presentation in the respective host country in English. This approach is important because this methodology allows for the possibility of comparison and reflects “good / best practice examples” and allows inclusion in one’s own concepts.
The overall objective is to exchange views on quality and efficiency in the school education system and in youth support systems, to gain and to provide overarching insights and to develop a mutual understanding of them. The focus is on how the participating schools are able to prepare the next generation for life. In the future, the efficiency and the handling of growing challenges will determine how productive societies in the Europe of tomorrow develop. School offers can and must therefore contribute to how young people orient themselves and assert themselves in the labor market. Thus, the priority of the project lies in the field of teaching key competences. The good preparation for occupations thus takes into account the counteracting of early school leaving and unemployment.
In this respect, a longer-term benefit is obvious:
As the project progresses, as concepts are redesigned, school programs renewed and local and supraregional decision-makers make meaningful and future-oriented conclusions on how to best promote both students and teachers, people are properly prepared in preparation for the ever-changing challenges of tomorrow’s Europe.
