Project Summary
Digital skills become more and more popular in peoples lives also the working frame of the teachers role in the classroom has to be changed. One model to make this change happen is the method of “Flipped Classroom”. This challenge will lead teachers to face a new role in the learning and teaching surrounding. Students nowadays are “digital natives” and get acquainted to several digital tools and media. They may know tools but they are not aware about the opportunities offered for improving their learning and training processes. In this process teachers will switch into a new role: they will to become an instructor and conductor during this learning time.
In this case the roles of students and teachers have to be seen from a new perspective: Students become teachers and teachers become learners.
This innovative learn-setting will allow students to create, with the help of teachers, learning sessions for younger students and peers. This peer-to -peer-learning (E-Buddy) motivates olderstudents to share their gained knowledge and receive learning sessions that are prepared by other students.
Students will get the possibility being part of the planning process, creation, iteration of the work material and reflection.
In order to use English during this process, students and teachers will improve their English. Pupils develop a positive attitude towards lifelong learning and use ICT to find or exchange information and to communicate with the partners. By using digital tools teachers can motivate and foster the students to become active and the protagonist in their learning experience.
There is a need to bring together teachers from different countries so that they can profit from each other’s experiences and methods and subsequently find best practices which can be used on a long term basis and integrated into daily lessons.
The key is to switch the learners and teachers regular roles by developing student – centered and created materials, using the method of “Flipped Classroom from students for students”.
The aim of the Project is to integrate the “Flipped classroom from students for students” into the daily life teaching of the partner schools. The Long-term aim is to make students responsible for their own life long learning activities.
Objectives of the project will be:
ICT – new technologies – digital competences
Key Competences – basic skills
New innovative educational methods
First: Teachers will attend a staff training meeting in November 2019 in Austria. Experts will hold teachers-trainings on the aims of “Flipped Classroom with students for students”, the importance of safer Internet and learn to use the appropriate software. In further session teachers learn the relevant procedures of planning, writing a script and scenes, filming, editing, cutting, voice over and publishing. In addition to the training a questionaire will be set up for the students asking for the topics students have the most difficulities with. These results will be the main topics for the project. and the outcome of the project is a collection of best practices.
In the first learning teaching activity pupils will make contact with different European cultures, getting to know each other and establish a cultural dialogue. A learning teaching, training activity of pupils will take place in Templemore, Ireland, in April 2020. Safer Internet and first steps in preparing and writing of scripts of “flipped Classroom Scenes” will be planned.
Students will attend the second learning teaching activity which will take place in Križevci, Slovenia, in November 2020. Pupils will work in international groups on their Flipped Classroom sessions using different digital tools.
In March 2021, the third learning teaching activity will take place in Agrigento, Italy. The pupils will continue to work on their Flipped Classroom using different subjects and tools. The last meeting for teachers will be held in Bulgaria in June 2021, where all the products of the project will be compiled and evaluated. In order to further disseminate the outcomes of the project, several websites, platform www.lms.at and blogs will be used and continuously updated throughout the project. Different channels of media (print, online, radio, TV) will ensure a broader distribution of the project results.
The main results of the project are the implementation of the adopted method of „Flipped classrom from students for students“ in the partner schools. This new teaching method will be valitated by significant numbers of teachers in all partner schools. The direct impact will be shown up by feedbacks and reflection while the long term impact will be seen from the detailed planned lessons around the „Flipped classromm from students for students“. On eTwinning all involved teachers will be gathered in an „Flip the learning“community. Further more the project will be available on the eTwinning platform so that also other partners can join this project all over Europe.
