Project Summary

For Healthy Europe is a project related to two main topics – healthy life style and environment. 2020 is the year of Climate Change and Environmental Challenges for European Commission and eTwinning as well as the year of the Olympic games. The context of this project commemorates the Latin proverb – “Mens sana in corpore sano”. To achieve a healthy body, we need to be active, do sports, relax and avoid stress. To achieve a healthy mind, we need to heal our planet and make it clean for future generations. These are basic objectives of this project. Healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and the importance of active way of life is as important as being environmentally friendly, respecting the nature and being an active and tolerant EU Citizen. To achieve our objectives, we will implement various approaches and introduce non-formal and experimental pedagogical methods.

Participants of this project are students, teachers, parents and local community of four participating schools: OA a VOŠPříbram (Czech Republic), BBS Idar-Oberstein (Germany), 2nd Vocational High School of Heraklion (Greece), IES Profesor Antonio Muro (Spain). All participating schools are secondary vocational schools preparing their students to work in different companies in Europe. Our common goal is to produce competitive school graduates equipped with sufficient vocational, language and social skills to integrate into the EU labour market successfully and to be active EU citizens, sensitive to current global issues.

During the project we will realise 105 students’ mobilities and 24 teachers’ mobilities. Besides that, the project will have about 2000 direct participants (students and teachers from four partner schools) as well as 500 indirect participants (local community, other students and pupils, local authorities). The impact on the direct and indirect project participants and target groups includes enhancing their learning and teaching with new methodologies, activities and tools related to environmental and health issues.

All project activities will be oriented at the bellow mentioned sub-topics:
1) Local environment and air pollution, traditional sports
2) Soil pollution and water pollution, non-traditional sports and dealing with stress
3) Saving energy and recycling, healthy diet
4) Climate change, health problems, regeneration and sleep

As a result, worksheets related to environmental topics and PE, power-point presentations about healthy lifestyle, videos including PE activities and documentation of realised project days will be created. All materials will be available in Twin Space and on the webpages of involved schools. New approaches involved in this project include critical thinking, experimental and pear teaching.

Thanks to the real-life experience students will gain new insides into their education and future possibilities, which will increase their confidence. They will acquire new skills, develop new attitudes and be more interested in the world around them. Besides that, development of useful ICT skills and communication and language competencies is another essential long-term benefit. All results and outcomes will be used to refresh, update and modify the school curricula to suit the needs of students growing up in the European background. This will lead to enhancing transnational cooperation and the dissemination of good practice. Last but not least, realisation of learning mobilities, which will be commonly validated and recognised, represents an essential long-term benefit.
