Project Summary

The proposed project aims to enhance the entrepreneurship outcomes in STEM programmes at Palestinian HE Systems. This goal is of utmost importance in allowing Palestinian HEIs to increase the relevance of their programmes and contribute to diversifying their financing sources. The programme is not designed to promote solely an insertion of ‘entrepreneurial education’ programmes along existing curriculum, but in addition to that to address deficiencies at different levels with the aim of supporting the partner universities in a transition process towards becoming an entrepreneurial university. The focus of the project, as such, is not just on courses development, but on institutional development, human resource development and the relations of these universities with the wider community of stakeholders that can support this process. The project’s theory of change envisages interventions at different levels that are necessary for the achievement of this goal. This project will develop a model that will integrate the STEM academic programmes at partner country universities with market oriented skills development training and practical on-the-job internships in start-ups. Such a comprehensive model is poised to shrink the gap between education and industry and ensure a smoother flow of knowledge and business ideas from university students.Start-ups that will come out of this project will need financial support and we will work with them on all aspects of financial requirements to enable them to increase their chances in obtaining support from investors, banks and other financial support organizations. We will involve the public sector as well in this project to create a policy at higher education to incentive staff and students in universities and to recognize remarkable achievements that can serve as a role model.
