Project Content:
With this project we hope to share our skills in theatrical arts training and artistic creation for young people, with the goal of refining our teaching methods and acquiring new tools. We also hope to highlight our common cultural heritage by exploring Fables by Aesop, Phaedrus and La Fontaine. Our aim is also to promote the acquisition of theatre-practice related skills and the personal development of the young people participating in this project.
The actions and activities that will meet these goals are:
collecting and analyzing texts for the preparation, and then the performance, of a multilingual play based on the works of the three authors (Aesop, Phaedrus and La Fontaine) + the old traditional tales; the play will first be prepared by each country independently, and then united into one single public performance to last 60-75 minutes, after the collaborative work carried out by the young people all together. The multilingual aspect of the play should not prevent any of the audiences from understanding it. The collaborative work and performance will take place in each country for 4 successive mobilities, at the preparation stage of this moment. To carry out these activities, we will call upon our own skills in the field of training young people in theatrical arts, and that of our usual partners in this type of project, as well as local support from non-profit and other organizations and all our possible support network.
Following these activities, we hope to put together an educational tool (a book) that will include the adaptations of the works studied as well as the educational methods and tools utilized during the project. The distribution of this book will be free and accessible by all, in both paper and digital format. At the end of the envisaged period of the project, we hope to continue the diffusion of this work, through plays independently produced by each partner using the scripts, and by the circulation of the book produced collectively by us, wherever this is possible: during these plays, cultural events organized throughout the year by us or by our partners, and meetings organized particularly in libraries surrounding our project and questions of European identity and citizenship.
The main expected results and impacts are:
– an increase in skills in each partner country with regard to theatrical arts training for young people, as a direct result of our shared experience and collaboration including the exchange of methods and educational tools, points of view and solutions adopted;
– from there, a positive evolution of their activities and an impact on the quality/quantity of their projects and successive partnerships;
– the acquisition by the young people of personal skills derived from their involvement in theatre, thus helping their personal development, having a positive impact on their personal and professional lives, in pursing studies or employment;
– the highlighting of a common cultural heritage in front of as wide an audience as possible, leading to a reflection on the ancestral links that unite the countries of Europe, and a positive impact on the sentiment of European identity;
– the sharing of educational methods provided by this experience that will go beyond this partnership;
– the possibility of using this project’s production material to further continue research and collaboration with other partners.
