Project Summary

“From Majority to Everyone” was a project about Diversity, Gender and Equality in preschools in different parts of Europe. The goal was to work for a preschool where all can fit in. From Majority to Everyone. The project has gathered preschools from Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden. The project was a deepening and a continuing of the “Shaking the Habitual” project and with two new, interesting, and interested preschools from Europe.
The project was about educating preschool teachers in the matter of diversity, gender and equality, subjects that will be more and more important during the coming years. Each participating country and Europe of its whole must deal with questions of letting people in and welcoming lots of new people to its area.
From each country a group of preschool teachers and leaders gathered in two Learning, Teaching and Training activities and learned about diversity, gender, and equality. The project was slimmed down by the Swedish National agency to three Learning, Teaching and Training Activities instead of five and the last LTT-meeting were cancelled because of the corona pandemic.
The preschool teachers made study visits at preschools, listened to lectures from scientists from the University world and participated in workshops. They had time to discuss diversity, gender, and equality with colleagues from Spain, Italy, Germany, and Sweden. At every meeting they also evaluated the meeting and the project of its whole to see if it works towards the intentions in the project. There was a group of at least 20 preschool teachers that participated in the Learning, Teaching and Training activities.

The preschool teacher left the Learning, Teaching and Training Activities with new and valuable knowledge that they could inform about and use at home in their own preschools. There was a large number of preschool teachers that became educated, both at the Learning, Teaching and Training Activities and also after the events at their own preschools. They also got knowledge and the strategy to be able to take the so important discussion about the importance of diversity, gender and equality in their preschools.
The children in the participating preschools participated when their preschool was host for a Learning, Teaching and Training activity.

The benefit of the project was great.
First, every teacher or preschool/school staff that participated in the project benefited from it since they broadened their knowledge and perspective about diversity, gender and equality and they deal with it in the everyday work. They also got methods and tools to deal with the subjects.
Second, this professional development had a great impact in their professional and personal performance in the everyday work and therefore they met the children in their preschools in a way that made a difference for them.
Third, the personal development that this caused for these children and families will have a direct impact in their social circles and local society.

The educational results from the Learning, Teaching and Training activities were collected for the participating preschool teachers on the website for the project at eTwinning.net. The same website, but in the public mode, has been used as an information platform for curious colleagues and, of course, the parents and caregivers. https://twinspace.etwinning.net/62495/home. Unfortunately, the webpage has not been used as much as we hoped in the beginning of the project.

Because of the corona pandemic it was impossible to fulfil the planning of the Learning, Teaching and Training events. The meeting in Malaga had to be cancelled because of the travel restrictions. The project group decided to extend the time for the project with a maximum of six months, but the time was still too short to implement the Learning, Teaching and Training event. The project group decided to replace the event in Malaga with digital meetings instead that was divided in three different digital meetings of two hours each. After the digital meetings held, the project group decided to finish the project.

For the management of the project there was planned two transnational project meetings, one in the beginning and one in the end. The corona situation caused that the last transnational meeting exchanged to a digital meeting for evaluation, final report and to plan for the future.
