Project Summary

Gabriel Deshayes vocational high school has been involved in various European programmes. This year, we are creating an equivalent of a fifth form group, specialized for students who don’t know yet about their professional goals and some of them have academic difficulties. That is why the teachers thought about a KA2 partnership. A Turkish high school and an Italian technical school are interested and agreed to work with us. Our main goal is to use the game to learn about our countries but also to understand we are all European. Durng these two years, Turkish students, 14 Italian pupils and 30 French teenagers will be concerned by this project. For the French high school, our goal for this group is to enable pupils to gain autonomy, being more open minded, to discover how nice it is to learn at school, and finally to help them finding a corresponding job and suitable studies. These young people are not ready yet to be part of a high school class because they are not mature enough, or due to their difficulties and their specific needs. The aim is to help them being more self confident thanks to a partnership with other European schools. Regarding Luigi Vanvitelli high school, they have specific courses in various fields such as hospitality and restaurant, accountancy and secretary work, mechanics, electronics and chemistry. They have people with specific needs too and they have vocational training courses. As for the Social sciences Kutaya high school they offer a general education for high level students. These ones are selected when to enter this school. The two Italian and Turkish partners will also enable 30 students each to be part of this programme. The total number of students concerned by this partnership will be 58. They are all 15 or 17 years old. The three schools are expert in European projects and the common goal is to integrate various types of students using a teaching method based on the creation of a game. Objectives are to improve the use of English, all along the project to communicate among the pupils but also for the teaching teams. Besides it will be a way to unify the classes and the teachers on the same project. Besides, it will a way to discover 6 main themes such as geography, daily life, sciences and nature , history, arts and litterature, sports and leisures. These ideas are mentionned in the e twinning tool box and we’d like to study 3 themes per year. It will enable young people to be more aware of their belonging to a European citizenship. So as to strengthen the project, a team of coordinators teachers will meet in Autumn 2019 and they will work together on it. The final game will be created in various steps. We’ll have to create quizzes and questionnaires with tools such as Kahoot, Learning apps or Socrative. These ones are Internet websites or apps and we’ll use them to discover the three countries. At the end of each schoolyear, each country will build its own board and we’ll use it to play when we’ll meet. All along the two years, we’ll keep working on the various fields and the second year the game will be finished.We can highlight the pedagogy used such as the flipped classroom to enable students to find information before coming in class. Then, we’ll be able to use these elements to create the questionnaire with ICT or Information and Communication Technology. Moreover the various pupils will send the others e mails so as to introduce themselves or realize whats app sessions. This virtual way of having penpals will allow them to know each other before meeting. Let’s develop the results of this programme. It will create unity among teachers and classes and enhance the dynamism in the three schools. In our school we have now an international label and it will help other teachers having new ideas or projects. Every persons being part of this action will improve his or her English since it will be our way to communicate all together. We’ll have to forget about our difficulties in foreign languages thanks to the game. Everyone will be included in this project, no matter is the difference at school . Each pupil will gain self confidence, particularly the ones with specific needs. If we think about the long term project, we could keep working on this partnership between the three schools in the future . This innovative programme highlights a real motivation to teach differently including every kind of students, even the ones with school difficulties. It is also part of our international label offering an opening on the international world. Young people insertion and their desire to keep having european projetcs are the consequences of the dynamic teachers and also the diversity of pedagogy, developped in this programme.
