Project Summary

The project GAME (Genius And Mission in Education) was addressed to teachers interested in strengthening their own profile in teaching methodologies to support and promote inclusive education. In this era, characterized by strong cultural and social issues mainly due to globalization, international crisis, loss of real and trusted relationships which are all important to balance the teacher’s role.
Nowadays, according to the lifestyle changes and evolution, teachers have to both to keep their professional profile high as guides for their students’ lifelong learning process but also to be innovative in their methodological approaches. Students are not motivated and interested in studying to enhance their own cultural background, to have a meaningful role for their own and for their European cultural development. They seem to not be really involved in their school life, isolating themselves, increasing individuality more and more against the forms of cooperation and friendly relationships. They sometimes have the attitude of excluding their mates who have social and economic issues to deal with.
The partners of this project cooperated to face this critical situation through more attractive and training programmes integrating good practices and new methods into “daily” activities.
Teachers and students worked together to create a positive and dynamic environment inside the class-context applying formal and non-formal learning activities as good practice in education to widespread it at local, national and European level.
The project “GAME” was played by the Strategic Partnership Team composed by ITALY as the Coordinator country and LATVIA, SPAIN, ROMANIA and GREECE as Partner countries. All the Partners had common experiences in European projects in the field of Education, Training and Youth and they were interested to enhance and strengthen their cooperation in order to promote the European values such as social inclusion, anti-discrimination, active citizenship, solidarity, tolerance, respect for others, intercultural learning and understanding.
The project focused on a wide range of activities to strengthen the 8 Key European Competences through the application of Non-Formal Learning approaches. All school subjects were included in the planned activities and each school experienced activities at local and international levels during the “short-term exchange of pupils”. Students and teachers worked together to carry out some Missions based on practicing games, experiences, experiments linked to daily life reality, acquiring knowledge and contents from experience. They, therefore, exchanged good practices and improved their speaking skills in a foreign language too. This project developed students’ insight skills and attitudes and improved their interpersonal relationships. Students met friends from different European countries and compared their learning attitudes. Teachers promoted naturally inclusive activities in their educational programs and improved their professional skills while students developed their formal, non-formal and informal competencies. The School Community gained in quality and improvement of its institutional role in the European perspective of creating the basis for a real and active Citizenship’s development.
Schools through this ERASMUS+ European Project earned visibility, grew experience-wise and improved their own educational and cultural standards working in cooperation with others.
Most of the activities planned for the implementation of the project did not need financial requirements and this means that they will be maintained even after the end of the EU funding: Web page, Facebook profile, Google Plus and e-Twinning. This means free access to the outputs of the project collected and published in a Booklet entitled “Genius And Mission in Education: exchange good practices”. The cooperation between the partner schools will go on by growing stronger through new projects which will be carried out via e-Twinning or other kinds of Erasmus+ mobilities. Partners will continue their activities with the partner- schools in the future, thus, the sustainability of results obtained through the project, will be kept alive.
