Project Summary

Our aim was it to offer an excellent and individually oriented education to all pupils at both school. That meant, we wanted to establish possibilities to get involved in art and culture. Pupils were supposed to get involved in our national heritage within the European context. International collaboration between two countries on one topic or project could have a deep impact and help pupils to understand. Our project about Goethe’s life and work offered a lot of ideas and possibilities because Goethe is a very famous German poet who is a key figure in our German culture. We have also learned from our twin school in Harbatov that Goethe plays an important role in their national culture as well. We wanted to follow up this interesting approach.
Our objects were:
– to develop a broader cutural knowlegde for our pupils
– tolerant interaction with the German – Czech culture and way of life
– to emphasize the value and maintenance of our cultural heritage
With different activities we developed more specific objects linked to the main objects:
– reduction of prejudice
– develope indenpendent learning
– apply and practice two languages ( and mother tongue)
– use of digital media
– use of social skills
Pupils of year 7 and 8 from Oberschule Lengenfeld and Grundschule Harbatov participated in this project. In total 100 pupils and 20 teachers were involved.
The following activities were carried out:
– to create a puppet show
– to create a multi-lingual travel diary of our visit to places where Goethe worked and lived
– development of material aids for lessons

We used different methods, digital media and visited places outside school. We used different learning skills (working in groups or with a partner). The English language should be used to correspond and communicate between the two schools. That was more difficult than we thought
Our experienced coordinator team has been knowing each other and working together successfully for many years already.
All results were published via different ways to reach a big audience. Therefore we used mainly digital media but also exhibitions and printed media. The joint presentation on site was unfortunately severely restricted by Corona.In addition we will developed a collection of material aids, which will be provided for both schools to be used for their lessons over a longer period of time.
