Project Summary

The two-year Grafein Education project is focused on Graphics Design, Informational Technology studies, and consequently on the general public. It is a project of a strategic partnership in the programme Erasmus+ KA2, the cooperation of three vocational schools from the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Portugal. The aim of the project is to broaden the schools’ professional curriculums about art techniques, which are not taught at the schools, through the widening of students’ general knowledge of art techniques and by this step to create publications: “Artist’s workbook of (chosen) graphics technique” and the video-manuals of these techniques The introduced and taught techniques will be chosen individually by each school at the beginning of the project. The techniques will be e.g.: intaglio printing, wax printing, mug printing, serigraphy, dry needle, linocut, stucco lustro etc. The outputs of the project will be workbooks and video-manuals which will help learners (or potential candidates) to learn and extend new graphics techniques in the frame of their studies or courses and help them to experience the possibility how to introduce and make their field of studies more visible. In addition, the project helps the students to improve their communicative English and interpersonal skills.

The target group is the second and third year students of vocational and professional secondary schools from Nový Jičín, the Czech Republic, studying three-year long vocational Graphic Design field, students of the secondary professional Art school from Žilina, the Slovak Republic, and students of the secondary professional Art school from Porto, Portugal. After the end of the project, we would like to introduce and teach the obtained art techniques to the general public of each country through the art/design courses and implement newly learnt techniques into the schools’ curriculums.

During the project students will work on the following activities under the tutelage of professional teachers: The graphic’s technique introduction, Artist’s Workbooks, Video-manuals of the individual techniques, Individual country presentation, School presentation, Logo creation, Web-page creation, Students’ Works Exhibition.

These activities are necessary to be carried out transnationally because they help students to develop and strengthen their knowledge, skills and competencies, not just in the professional field, but they will be able to extend, practice and compare their art and IT skills, use their own creativity and learn more about studies abroad.
