Project Summary
The G.R.E.E.N project ( Green and Renewable Economy wih Environmentally-literate Employees in Need) is to discover the green jobs or employment opportunities linked to green economy directly or indirectly, with a special attention to the following five sectors based on green economy; renewable energy, sustainable transportation, green construction, sustainable tourism,energy efficiency and management. The main objectives of the project for enabling the active participation of 4.000 vocational students and 300 teachers as well as 6000 indirect beneficiaries in 6 different schools and in six different towns:
– to increase capacity of environmentally-literate students,
-to employ strategies for these vocational students about the employment opportunities for their disciplines related to green economy sectors and make them investigate, describe ways in which what they are learning and applying these to the world of work for imparting them with the necessary skills, empowering them, raising their aspirations to make a successful transition into employment and /or higher education through blended learning methodology.
-to create opportunities for the targeted students to acquire and use an integrated sets of basic, digital and language skills to develop.
-To have a notion about the identical institutions of EU member countries and their applications with regulations.
-underachieving because of lack of skills, confidence and engagement
-to improve the educational outcomes of young people at risk of underachieving because of lack of skills, confidence and engagement
– To adopt best practices in education and training institutions to make the structure more effective
It will be our priority to create innovative learning environments where to exploit contemporary technological tools to help our students develop transversal skills such as ICT and multilingualism, as well as the key competences necessary to become environmentally-literate European citizens and to actively take part in rapidly growing green economy as qualified labor force. The target groups include participating students and teachers of the partner countries, local people, associated partners of the partner countries, potential vocational students, employers, policy makers. The project will start in August 2018 and will last two years. It will be carried out by the partners from Norway, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Portugal and Greece. They have been carefully selected to meet the needs of the project in terms of skills, competencies and understanding of the problem and possible solutions, each of them bringing specific knowledge of at least one aspect of the green economy’s sectors.
Northern Lights International School from Oslo is the coordinator of the project.
The project involves the following tasks:
1. Preparation of an environmental questionnaire in virtual environment jointly with partner schools,
2. Six Learning, Teaching, Training Activities will include field trips, conferences, workshops.
3. The Green Carpet Award inspired by Harvard University Green team will be applied in each partner school
4.Your Eco-Home: Each partner school will design a green, eco-friendly home by using ICT tools.
5. Interview with a Green Building expert
7. Adventurers in Renewable Energy : Students will build a small-scale model of a renewable energy technology
8. Powerpoint Presentation of Renewable Energy Sources: Students will prepare a ppt about their country’s renewable energy sources, give statistical information.
9. Sustainable Tourism in My City
10. Eat Locally Public Awareness event about benefits of eating locally and reducing food miles.
12. “For one Less Car” Bike Ride: All partner schools will organise a bike ride with the motto “For one Less Car”
13. Public vs Private Transportation Survey in partner schools
Through using blended learning methodology together with content-based learning methodology, the G.R.E.E.N. project will improve collaboration and enhance the access, participation and performance of socially disadvantaged learners by facilitating their transitions from education/training to the world of work.
The results and deliverables of the G.R.E.E.N. project in digital or otherwise, will be in the public domain and will be released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restriction on the project website (www.greenew.com)
