Project Summary
”Green Europe: Education & Abilities“ wishes to be a project for a cleaner, healthier future.
All participating schools have the opportunity to share the good practices resulting from the application of their own school curriculum: ecotourism classes in Northern Macedonia, the profile of Agriculture and Household (landscape worker) within the school in Lithuania, the Natural Sciences class in Romania, the ecology courses environment in Turkey and Portugal etc. In order to understand and perceive the situation of forests in Europe more realistically, it is necessary to integrate in the general picture all types of forest landscapes in the European Union: Mediterranean, Atlantic, Nordic, Central-European; is the main reason why we are requesting the financing of a project that includes schools located near such forests;
Everything starts from education. A well-informed person will pay special attention to the forest environment and will have a greater respect for mother-nature. And if, through this project, with the proper means and using the appropriate methods, he will acquire ecological skills and abilities, that person will become a true citizen of Green Europe.
The overall objective of the project is to promote, within the participating schools, the cross-curricular collaboration in order to identify sustainable forest management solutions, by encouraging students’ scientific and artistic creativity in transmitting civic, ecological messages;
objectives:
1. Increasing the degree of information on the forest landscape in Europe and the European legislation on forests, for a minimum of 1000 people (of which at least 250 students between 15-17 years), during the period 01.10.2020 – 31/08/2021;
2. Increasing the capacity to solve a real problem (case study – protection and conservation of a nearby forest) through self-education among 250 students (15-17 years), during the period 01.09.2021-31.08.2022;
3.Development of practical skills (planting, greening, selective waste collection) among the 250 students (15-17 years), during the period 01.09.2020-31.08.2022;
4.Development of artistic skills (painting, theater, music, film, photographic art), among the 250 students (15-17 years), during the period 01.09.2020-31.08.2022;
5.Development of linguistic and digital skills with a least one level in the adequate transmission of information by at least 60 students (15-17 years) and 20 teachers, during the period 01.09.2020-31.08.2022;
The target group:
-direct beneficiaries: 250 students (aged 15 to 17) and 20 teachers from participant schools;
-indirect beneficiaries: other students and teachers from participant schools, persons belonging to the local community;
For accomplishing these objectives we propose the following activities:
-monitoring and investigating the forests near the participant schools;
-creating graphic works and presentations for promoting forest environments near the participating schools (one for each school) , which will be presented during a Scientific communications session with the students;
-organizing a training course for the teachers of the partner schools for harmonizing the methods and techniques used in the project;
-putting up information panels in places with maximum visibility inside the forests mentioned above (one for each participant school);
-creating informative materials about forest legislations, about the european forest landscapes and disseminating them among the target group;
-organizing a photography exhibition with photos taken inside the forests in the range of the participant schools;
-carrying out ecological activities which will contribute to improving the image of the forests: recycling paper, cleaning some chosen spaces in the forests, afforestations, sport and recreative activities;
-hosting a school team contest named ”The green house”, adressed to highschool students (aged 15 to 17)
-carrying out a local forest ecology project by each participant school;
-building a TwinSpace, a website and a Facebook page where all results of the project’s activities will be uploaded; thus, digital competences will be tested and verified;
Over the course of the project we will use the following methods: description, observation, mathematical statistics, case study, graphic manipulation and mapping of the acquired data, documentary, field trip, interview, comparison, questionnaires, brainstorming.
The schools involved will benefit in the long term from the results of the project: website, facebook page and eTwinning project will continue to operate after the completion of the project and will be updated periodically (at least every 6 months) with information, images, graphs, maps (made after project completion) on the theme of forest ecology; will increase the visibility of the participating schools on the eTwinning and SchoolEducationGateway platforms and will create the premises for future transnational collaborations on ecological issues;
