Project Summary

– Our main aim is «how to manage inclusion for students with a handicap in a school community”
– One objective: doing away with misconceptions of handicap and getting ready to welcome disabled students in our schools.
– What we have noted: there are not enough adapted structures to welcome disabled ones in good conditions. More and more disabled students will attend lessons at schools. But, we are not prepared enough: we need to change our habits and upgrade our abilities.

Interest :
1) It is good for a class to welcome a disabled student.
2) It is good for teachers who have to improve their pedagogy
3) The practices we design for disabled students can be transferred to students who have difficulties at school.

We are 4 partners from different countries: France, Italy, Lithuania and Bulgaria. In each school, some teachers will help students ( a permanent group of about 20 students and a lot of others) to work on the issue of “disablity”.

What we are going to do:
1) to define exactly what handicap is and what our schools need ( in terms of building, pedagogy and from a human point of view).
2) to understand how the disabled live ( their everyday life)
3) to understand and try to improve the way schools welcome disabled ones
4) to improve our pedagogy and make tools we can share.

To disseminate our project, we will make posters to share the results within our school and with nearby schools, a brochure with a list of tools for students and teachers, and a guide on the dispositions that are developped in our schools.
